This is one of the best matchups ive seen on here in awhile Burt...Although I adore Roberto at 147 I give the edge to Basilio....If at a lighter weight like 140 or even 135 maybe Duran would have the edge, mbut Carmen was one mean and tough son of a ***** and I know for a fact Duran has never fought anyone like Basilio!

Carmen at his best at 147 was a circling kinda fighter. He threw his jabs out, but he was really looking to land anything that might land hard. He was hardcore and down for the infighting. He could take anything that Duran sent at him.

Duran for his part would not be facing Leonard whom he could muscle around a bit and out-fox a bit, and outslug a bit. He will have to be more like the Duran who fought in DeJesus III. He will have to conceed for a bit that he will not be able to be the aggressor at least for the early stanza.

I feel that Duran will fire that jab all day looking for openings. Once he gets going, I think Carmen will have a hard time landing hard shots. He will land hard shots but, they won't be in combination. Since Carmen is not a KO puncher he will have to look for volume.

If he can muscle Duran around and make it a real fight, I think he can even the skill level. I don't think he can. I think Duran from the Palomino fight is about a skilled as any fighters has ever been. He will be slipping and firing and landing and pissing Carmen off.

I see the fight as Duran's on points. A war similar to Montreal. could go either way. I take the defense of Duran over Carmen fierceness.

If its Carmen of the Demarco fights vs Montreal duran i'd have to give it to Duran that night in a tough war. I actually prefer Basilio to Duran as a fan though i'm a big fan of both. Duran is too skilled and has many more weapons in his arsenal. However Carmen was one tough son of a *****, its hard to picture anyone beating Duran in montreal though..Carmen did beat sugar ray argued to be the best p4p fighter of all time. Damn thats a tough one I say out of 10 fights Duran wins 7 and Carmen wins 3 both at their best

I like Duran in this one...but he will have to be a better boxer and he had the skills to do so...because Basilio will be the stronger inside fighter.

Leonard almost beat Duran at his own game in Montreal. That fight didn't suit Ray but it would suit Basilio comfortably. Robinson could do everything in the ring and was put into retreat mode..
    Basilio tko or points.
    Too fierce, relentless and determined.

    Nice point.

Ray did more than hold his own and Carmen is deffinately more suited to bang away. The problem I feel is that Carmen is not a better puncher that Leonard. Leonard had a harder left hook and threw faster combinations yet Duran was able to weave, duck, and counter them.

Carmen was slower and hit less hard. Not saying that his punches did not have any bang in them but I think that Duran would be able to get control of the fight and hold it for longer periods because of his better infighting skill. if Carmen was able to musle Duran around, rough him up....then I think the fight favor Carmen, but that is not a likely senario.

Also, I think that Duran would not fight Carmen like he fought Leonard because that would give Carmen unnessary chances. He would absolutely stick and move and look for counters. Once the fight favored infight he would go in. Against, Carmen the fight would never favor infighting so I think the Duran out-boxes Carmen. The feinting, slipping, jabbing, countering, wickly-smilling animal from the Palomino fight.

    Very nice point though.
