Yea hes outjabbing the vastly rangier faster Hearns  Why don't you start a thread asking if Ross can outjab Hearns and see who's dumb enough to agree with you. You're the ****wit bringing race up does it make you :| that your heroes werent that good?

I dont say theres no way a man can win, were talking about who shold be favoured, Hearns is a head to head monster at 147

i think ross could well be in trouble here ,brave and tough and not forgetting his great skill i just cant get past the size difference and reach advantages of hearns and the damage the jab of hearns would do to barney's eyes i thinks its a wide ud or late stoppage (swollen eyes ) win for hearns

    Probably.

I agree. Hearns won't stop Ross and Ross will win some rounds and every round will be competative but Hearns size and especially reach advantage combines with his skill is too much for Barney to overcome.

Winky fights a bit different than Tommy, don' you think. I posted why I think Tito should be favoured.

Great minds think alike. I think so too :D

I never once said Ross would out jab Hearns, in fact I have doubted it throughout the thread. I have stated that Ross had an absoloutly fantastic jab, and no one can argue that, and I wondered if he would have a chance to beat Hearns, albeit a long shot. I never once said he would win. :patsch:patsch

Why would it make me sad that 'my heroes' werent as good as Tommy Hearns? I admire all boxers and idolise most of them. I would say only a select few would be 'heroes' but I really admire Hearns, aswell as Ross and Walker.

Hearns is a H2H monster but any monster can be slain. Were brainstorming guys who could beat Hearns, I gave afew names.

Yep, but Hearns wasn't exactly the most durable guy at the Welterweight limit. Maybe they both find themselves in bad sorts in the later half and it probably would come down to who had the stronger Will and I wouldn't trust a young green Hearns in that type of situation.

Definitly, Ross's workrate and adaptibility definitly stand him in good stead, especially late on which can win fights, but I do think Hearns will be too far ahead on the scores and Ross lacks the firepower to end it.

    :lol::lol:

    :good

Reading comprehension please. The thread title is: At 147 who should be favored over Tommy Hearns? Not who has a chance, you suggested him initially

Fair point indeed. I just think Hearns can amass more damge on armstrong than vice-versa. Armstrong was more of a grind-you-down kinda guy and would stop Hearns late. Whereas Hearns had the power to stop a fight near any time, I think he could inflict alot more damage sooner on Armstrong and that would be the difference.

All these idiots comparing Tito to Hearns are forgetting that Hearns operated at the very highest level against the highest operators .. Yeah he got beat by Leonard and Hagler but these two guys are on the top tier of all time fighters .. Hearns flattened Duran in 2 rounds, beat Wilfredo Benitez, took out Pipino Cuevas and then stepped up the weights to knock out the teak tough Juan Roldan, dominate Dewitt, knock out Andries and beat Virgill Hill at Light Heavy, he should have also got that decision in the re-match with Leonard ..... How the hell are people comparing a great fighter like Hearns to Trinidad ?? Its probably the younger guys who didnt see Hearns, but they really need to get educated ....

He was superb. One of the best Welterweight ring generals, if not the best.

Just knew exactly how to handle himself in the ring, combine this with his iron chin and brilliant whipping offensive arsenal you got a great fighter. Enough to beat Hearns? not 100%.

Lacks power, but he was a whipping/stinging puncher just not really an explosive one, but tell that to Walter Catier.

I know exactly what the thread is. I was asking people on their views if Ross could be favoured over Hearns due to his versatility.

The only operator at welterweight, and that's what we are talking here, of he highest level Tommy ever fought was Leonard. And he lost that one.
