Martinez is NOT slick, he is ackward but sloppy, and he tires during the mid rounds, I don't see him beating a peak Trinidad.
He tires during the mid rounds? He didn't tire in the mids against Pavlik, he simply was just afraid to keep getting hit by Pavlik, who was begin to make a surge... then when Martinez busted Pavlik's eye.. he had the confidence to finish him off... Question, did Martinez tire during the mid rounds of the Williams first fight? No.. and Williams is active and throws a lot of punches (like 100 a round often).. Martinez might pace himself at times, but he doesn't tire... he was matching Williams high offensive output most of their first fight... which is a lot and he didn't tire against Pavlik.... so to say he'd tire against Tito doesn't make sense.. a peak Trinidad would def. give Martinez issues and Tito would be a favorite.. but from what I've seen, i'd choose Martinez at 160... look at what B. Hop did to Tito,, and Tito had more power than B. Hop...
You seriously think margarito would beat Martinez right now? .. he couldn't even look good against Williams... or Mosley...atschatschatsch
Jeez, can you imagine Margo going straight at Tito? nobody ever come off better who went toe to toe with him.
No, I've seen Tito in his haye day.. he was a monster.. and deserved to be called a monster but Martinez... is a monster today, who arguably wouldn't lose to anyone under 160... Martinez would probably lose to B.Hop and DLH at the times Tito faced them... but let's remember how DLH seemed to be beating Tito before he started to run.. so I'm just saying this fight could be closer than yall think.. especially since Martinez can box unlike a lot of fighters today
I agree that Martinez tries to fight in a slick way but he's not necessarily very hard to hit. Although it does allow him to connect with good counters. I don't know if he were to beat Tito but I do think Sergio is being overrated here. And I'm a fan.
I don't think it has been said but Martinez tends to be off balance at times(look at the crap KD in the Pavlik fight) and this could be his downfall against an accurate puncher like Trinidad. It makes it more possible for Trinidad to drop him. I'm not sure on an outcome but I favor Tito.
martinez loss to AM when he started boxing, ppl tends to forget that he started boxing at 23 years old or 22, back in 1997 and 2 or 3 years later he fought Margarito a younger and more experience fighter, if we r going to analize this dream match, we need to place Tito at his peak the same with Martinez, which victory was the most impressive on TT resume? And which one so far on SM resume? I said the Martinez that show up at that fight against Pavlik would had beat any version of TT.
Yeah I hate when people bring that up... bring up a more recent fight.. no one says anything about Pac's early loses... plus marg coulda been using the handwraps.. now I know that's a reach.. a huge reach.. I'm just saying.. I don't even worry about that fight.. or any of Marg's useless fights at that
