That's why Martinez is my pick, Tito at 160 was virtually a nobody.

Tito stomped Joppy into the ground when Joppy was #2 at 160, and in more impressive fashion than either Hopkins or Taylor would later do. The only thing he could have done that would have been more impressive at the time at 160 is beat Hopkins. You can't hold that loss against him in this comparison, Martinez is not near peak Hopkins level. Then Tito blew away Cherifi and retired for a couple years.

It's a guy who is relatively easy to hit vs an accurate puncher with devestating power. The best chance Martinez has I feel is coming on late and stopping Tito while down on points. I don't see it happening.

Most of the time Williams will beat Maravilla as well. Martinez is awkward, he lunges with his punches, and he gasses out. He's just not that special, that's why Margo knocked him out and why he would probably do it again. Pavlik had him controlled pretty easy once he got his **** together, but a drunk can't keep his **** together very long. Everybody and their mother is on Sergio's nuts right now, and they'll jump off just as quick as soon as Pirog or somebody like that beats him down. You make this thread a year from now and 99% of this board will laugh their ass off at the idea of Martinez facing Tito, and they'll forget that they were the ones posting that Maravilla would win it in this thread right here.

Glad to see there are others who feel what I do, that Martinez is vastly overrated. Martinez is a good fighter, but whats happened since he beat Williams, is that he's no shouldering all the hype that Williams was carrying, only neither he nor Williams, deserve/deserved it.

Mystifies me to this day how Williams kept getting hit by those lunging, leaping left hooks Sergio was throwing. He shouldn't have been taking those shots, and most quality middleweights wouldn't. I think PW is just too intent on throwing a million shots per round, and that's probably always going to leave him vulnerable to anyone who can take a step back and throw some haymakers at him.

Martinez, Trinidad is a bloated WW.
    (Sergio holds the weight better)

STFU. Stop posting. You have absolutely no idea what you're posting about.

Unless you're trying to say Trini is bloated at MW, which is still wrong, but much more credible.

Doesn't help when you start extending yourself from the opening bell either, as the opponents reflexes and mind, are as sharp as they are ever going to be in the fight. You start fighting like Williams was when your in the last round, not the first, and even then its dangerous

Martinez fights nothing like Wright. He isnt anywhere near the defensive fighter and lacks a top level jab, let alone one as good as Winky's. Martinez, defensively, is much closer to Vargas than Hopkins or Wright. In fact, peak Vargas was just as good as Martinez overall, if not better.

I'd say Trinidad was more impressive in his loss to Hopkins than Martinez was in his win over Pavlik, who isnt even near current Hopkins level, nevermind peak Hopkins. He may have been outclassed on the whole, but he still looked good in there, throwing short, quick combos with Hopkins. He wouldnt have a difficult time finding Martinez, and thats a bad thing for Sergio.

    Agree.

Vargas was definitely a better fighter imo.

Tito would break his jaw, though I suspect Martinez would be ahead on the cards (right before he gets his lights turned off)

I know he doesn't fight like Wright, what I meant was how wide the score would be because of Martinez being the smarter fighter. About Vargas I don't know, he really gassed out after 6-7 rounds in most of his fights and we may never saw a peak Vargas in the ring. How can Tito chase Martinez, gets him(I think he can) and beats him, when Tito is a slugger that just looks at you if you don't throw punches?(something Martinez is good at), Martinez always gets his opponent open because he's looking for an opening on the opponent, a fighter like Tito or Pavlik are looking for one punch, Martinez would've been too smart and beat the 160 Trinidad, who was overrated. Totally agree with the sentence in red.
