Right now, until 32 years old:

    Jones:
    a) Success from 154 to 175 pounds (21 pounds).
    b) One bull**** loss
    c) Wins over Toney, Hopkins, Hill, etc.

    Mayweather
    a) Success from 130 to 154 pounds (24 pounds)
    b) No loses
    c) Wins over Corrales, Castillo x2, Hatton, De la Hoya, JMM, etc.

Jones easily. He had fought Bernard Hopkins, Virgil Hill and James Toney by that point and beat all of them. Those are 3 fighters better than anyone Floyd has beaten.

    Excellent post....:good

People don't realize that Jones' resume is actually better than they think it is...

Malinga was considered to have an iron jaw and had never been knocked out before. Clinton Woods was a pretty darn good fighter that doesn't get that much credit.

Gonzalez beat Dm, Roy destroyed Gonzalez. Virgil Hill was past his best but in the fashion in which Roy won was amazing, and Virgil was still good enough to move up to CW and capture a belt after the fact.

Any fighters resume can be hated on by idiots.

Both have seemed unbeatable by this age in their careers. Both were approaching the stage where they were fighting questionable opposition, jones more because a lack of real challenges, and kept on having to move up- floyd because well- he s floyd.

i give the nod at 32 to jones- heck i give the nod at 30 to trinidad and delahoya as well- over mayweather. most great fighters looked amazing in their peaks- and then perhaps lost a few in their 30's and hurt their legacies some. its hard to maintian excellence past 30.

its also the way jones did it- mayweather is amazing- but jones was spectacular.

noone would ever question jones of being a runner- or being boring. until his speed and chin declined- he was almost perfect a fighter. then his fundamental flaws let him down a bit.

People love to kick Roy while he is down. A 40 year old that has lost most of the things that made him great. People talk like being 40 has nothing to do with it, that it happened because he was hiding flaws all this time, and now they are exposed, fighters exploit them.

    Nope.

    Way too late for that.

Mosley would be a good win for Mayweather, a very good win, but Shane is past best.

As has been pointed out, Jones' utter domination of fellow ATG Toney is better than anything Floyd's ever done.

At 32, Jones' dominance of his opponents was far core complete and total than Mayweather's at the same age.

    He had no 'near things.'

Many (most) feel that Castillo beat Floyd the first time. And his win over Oscar was close.

Jones' only rival in greatness since Duran was Pea. You could make a case either way there. I favour Jones.

Floyd or Pac or both, still have time to surpass Jones, but neither has done it yet.

I expect one of them may well do it.

I don't know if Floyd can pass Jones. Shane has a good record, but Floyd is way behind Shane or Roy Jones.

If the shoe was on the other foot, Floyd would have ducked toney and Hopkins claiming they were nobodies and Roy would've been the undisputed welterweight champ. Lol.
