It's ok. But nothing great. Hey at least the man is making millions in boxing. He will make at least 5 million in purses this year alone so thats not bad.

 

How exactly did he waste his career? What exactly should he had done differently?

 

You can keep having digs at Golovkin but Who is the number 1 middleweight?

It's starting to resemble Wladimir Klitschko's reign as champion, there was nobody around to really challenge him for a very long time and Wladimir got the abuse for it.

Right now there is just nobody else at middleweight that comes close to Golovkin, he will never get the credit he deserves because he has no talented natural rivals.

He could step up to super middleweight but that division is starting to slow, Ward has moved up, Froch retired, Abraham looks ready to go, Bute already been cobra'd, not many rate Jack, so does beating DeGale give Golovkin star status?

You either rate Golovkin or you don't and I can't see what he does to change it at the moment.

Canelo and DeGale are the only fighters around him who could give him a test and would be standout names on his resume. GGG is too small for LHW so i struggle to see any real top class adversaries for him. Lara, possibly. Andrade if he starts fighting again and can get the fights to up his standing in the boxing publics eyes.

Hopefully for us Brits, Callum Smith, lives up to his billing and we get a Smith v GGG SMW fight down the line.

simply not good enough at this point. the guys got a solid resume and whats more impressive is the matter in which he has beaten pretty much all comers in vicious one sided beat downs

its not his fault the biggest names at 160 wont fight him but if he is really striving for greatness he could have stuck to his word and fought ward at 168 when he said hed fight ANYONE from 154 to 168

factoring in financials if it was a high risk low reward fight but when you factor in ward is regarded as top 3 p4p well its a huge win for GGG. sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and take the risks to achieve greatness like all the past greats

 

the difference is...wlad had nowhere to go...he was stuck...cant go up or down.....

part of the problem is that ward would have made one more fight at 168 to fight ggg....ggg has pursued fights in that division.....ward reached out and they wanted no part of that fight.....you could clearly see that theyd rather stay the current course of beating up overmatched mw's and collect steady checks rather than probably have their "Brand" damaged with a loss and looking ordinary...

i dunno if that fight gives ggg star status...but it gives him incredible status in the sport where wards name rings bells

i rate golovkin higly...i think hes reaaalll good...its just his fans that run around "oh he knocks out ward easily...blah blah"...all this rah rah b.s.....and he had a chance to do something and prove something and they balked

his fans have crucified fighters they dont want to like...fighters who have achieved way more than ggg...for not taking on all challenges and risks.....and yet they somehow seem ok with ggg staying put in a fairly weak division .....im telling u these guys live vicariously through him
