I think Tua still has what it takes at the top level. He has been lacking the mental will and fire - but it may be back Bombs away!!
He hasn't fought in over two years. I'll suspend judgement on his non-career and his chances of getting spanked once again in a world title fight until he actually gets his fat old posterior into the ring with Shane Cameron, who would be his first real test since a fat Hasim Rahman got robbed in their second fight. Hmm, a Tua-related post with only two uses of the word "fat". Things aren't what they used to be...
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10594110 This Tua article says he'll be in the 230's for the fight on Oct 3rd.
No I think you'll find he beat 4 ex champions. 3 of them were flashes in the pan and one of them had lots of help of King Don...and has been (when he's been champ) the most hated low rated champ in history.
Hell no, I used to be a big Tuaman fan but no chance of him winning a belt in todays shitty division hes faded too much
Seems like Tua still has a lot to prove. I hope he does so. That NZ Herald article linked by Diehard above should give some idea of the new focus and determination in Tua right now. I think we may see a real return. October 3rd will tell us a lot.
If he beats this Cameron guy, and I assume Tua will, cause Tua is on another level, I hope to see him fight often til he is ready for someone of note. Peter/Tua would be a great fight. Go Tua!
against anyone that his anounced height is up to 6'1" and most of those who are listed as 6'2" , david tua will win convincingly , unless he has some illness/problem. if he was inactive for so long then possibly he has or at least had such a problem. i hope it passed/will pass if still hasn't. against fighters above 6'2" - he is made to lose on points unless he gets a gift opurtunity (can be called also called : 'get lucky'). if povetkin or chambers or haye will somehow win a title , then it's tua's opurtunity to get what he deserved for a long time , but he'll be ducked. i even consider him a fav against arreola and a bigger one against haye. both , and especially haye will never get in the ring against him.
oh , i forgot , he'll also beat peter. if peter somehow goes the distance i'll respect him more , and it will show peter's chin is strong and that he deserves and actually capable of winning another belt. but peter doesn't have a belt currently and also not going to have one.
