I'm not convinced about this comeback. Comebacks generally end in failure, barring the odd exception.
Is Tua that exception? The division is poor, and he's always had power and durability, so those are plusses.
On the other hand, he was rarely in top shape when active, and while we're being promised that things will be different this time, fighters usually return to form sooner or later. In short, after a few fights, of not one or two fights, expect him to baloon right back up to the 250 mark again.
He's also short, and a short guy with most likely slightly faded reflexes and stamina to boot. Faded handspeed too, over a long fight.

A smart, mobile fighter will have no problem with him. He could win over B grade opposition though...we'll see.*

*The same held true in his first career, so I guess it goes without saying.

Regardless of the result vs Cameron, I think his time has been and gone. And that's a crying shame.

That really is a crying shame if its true, Damon. I guess we are about to find out.

Personally I feel there is one last run left in the tank.

david tua is one of the most overrated heavyweight boxers i have ever seen. if it weren't for his awesome power he would have an under .500 record because the guy cannot box if his life depended on it. and in an era (pre-klitschko) of weak heavyweights, my opinion is proven to be true cause he couldn't even win an ABC title in his prime.

couldnt win an A B C title?? yeah cos he didnt fight for one and thats all it is. Only stepped up against an odds on favorite by the name of Lewis and that fight should of never ever happened but his trainer/manager lead him to the gallows with an injury and all the while big problems were not helping on that title shot.but no use looking back anymore.....

Sometimes it takes forever to get over stuff. The time has arrived.Only the future matters and the way Tua has been shedding the weight and training the house down is a strong sign that the man is on a mission. Will he make it?? Time will tell. I would give him some room to prove himself before making a judgement against him. I think he can do it if he keeps on doing what hes been doing all of this year.peace.

It's one of the worst heavyweight divisions in decades, the answer is yes. We have a 7 foot tall giant who sucks dick, who nearly was outboxed by a 46 yearold washed up Evander Holyfield. We also have a 38 yearold Vitali Klitschko who rode the bench for 3 and a half years, came back and won title first fight out. Wlad is a good heavyweight, but he's always one punch away from going into a panic attack and his glass chin shattering all over the canvas.

Tua may not be what he used to be 10+ years ago when he fought against the likes of Ibeabuchi and Ruiz, but he still packs a big punch and can take one as well. That alone gives him a decent chance of beating any of the current belt holders.

David Tua over rated as a boxer? 3 losses and hes over rated huh? He fought whoever was put in front of him and hes over rated? how can that be?
I know he is no Sugar Ray or a light footed speedster .......BUTt he is a toe to toe fighter who will smash his way all the way up the rankings once again if he sets his mind to doing just that. Then he will be overrated still in the minds of some huh?

Tuaman needs to stay active and avoid guys with top end durability and/or slick movers.

I watched Cisse Salif-Tua earlier today and why he was chosen as his opponent is beyond me. Giant, granite chinned superheavyweight with power, actually backed Tua up once or twice. Horrible matchup.

If Tua stays active, that means that he'll be in better shape and won't balloon up in weight as much (maybe). With good management and fighting every few months I can easily see him getting a title shot or a title elimination bout in a short time. It's all on him.

Tua has an advantage in that he can probably take a short route to a title shot based on his name. So IMO it's possible for him maybe get there. It depends who's holding the belts in 2010 ... and how often they are fighting.

Personally, Tua's inactivity caused me to lose interest in him and while I'll still take a keen interest in this upcoming fight I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't do much after it.
