Everyone knows that Soviet sporting success was built on living in a utopia and the athletes desire to compete in the name of world wide communism.

That or they just trained their entire lives because sport is their job. Credit to the sport both of them.

Thanks for that stat. It's true, Vitali has averaged 70+ punches/round in at least several of his fights. It's unbelievable for such a huge guy.

Like I said before, enjoy them while they're here. Fighters like this don't come around very often.

I will argue till I'm blue in the face that he doesn't have ATG power, what I will never argue is the guys conditioning and output, simply amazing.

I think Vitali, like Manny and Floyd, is a natural born fighter. Many people bash him and his brother by calling them 'boring', but that's running so dry now. They are an exceptional dua of boxers, and they deserve a lot of respect for their ability to remain so dominant.

I'm a big Klitschko fan. I'm just being a realist, not knocking them. That is, in my opinion, I would be very surprised if they hadn't been exposed to PED's coming up in that system. That's not a knock on them, it's more of a matter-of-fact statement about the system.

In other words, they may have taken some things in the past that they did or did not want to take, in my opinion. But that doesn't mean they are (or are not) taking anything now. I have no idea.

    Fair enough.

A guy on another site was saying that one of his boxing contacts felt that Vitali lost some power after he took time off in 2003. Maybe that's true, maybe the surgeries took some of his power. Not sure.

I 100% agree with this. Vitali enjoys fighting, that's obvious. More so than Wlad seems to, even though Wlad may have more natural talent (though not as good of a chin).

Vitali has the same kind of demeanor a Duran had. He wants to beat you, break you down. That's one of the things that makes him what he is.

It is amazing. I only saw him winded like one time in the fight (after just hammering Briggs with several hard shots) and he only took one round off all fight (the 11th).

I'm younger than Vitali and I wish I had that kind of stamina. Props to him for his conditioning.

I don't think so, it's the standard of opposition that got better.

    Larry Donald - 10 rounds
    Vaughn Bean - 11 rounds
    Ross Puritty - 11 rounds
    Timo Hoffman - 12 rounds

As for his pre Byrd years that's all padding against aweful/past it fighters.
The man's always had good sustained power, with an amazingly high output, just not a ko puncher.

Has anyone pointed out that a decade an a half after a prime Briggs was spanked around and then put to sleep by Lennox in five, the shell of Briggs lasts the distance with the amazing, unbeatable H2H GOAT Vitali?

This. Yes, the K bros are in good shape, but anyone can throw punches all night when not getting punched back.
