Sorry guys. 40 years old by the time of the fight.
Set for September If they both come through their next fights. (Eddie Hearn)

At this point you'd have to assume he knows what's up and that only a KO wins the fight.
It would have to be a scenario where Golovkin fights the way he did in fight 1 and Canelo fights more like he did in fight 2.
Golovkin would have to hurt him early I think and look to go out on his shield.
I personally don't think he will. I predict as it goes into the late rounds Golovkin gets hurt the worst we have seen him and goes into survival mode the last couple rounds.
Golovkin can of course absolutely win it, I just feel like he has fallen in love with his mythical power and has lost some tactical skills in the ring. His timing was more predictable against Canelo and every punch he threw seemed to be at the same speed and they weren't very fast.

It's a big ask right now. The main problem for Golovkin has been his loss of speed. He's become a lot slower as he has aged and Canelo still seems pretty quick. To catch Canelo out with timing alone will be difficult given that ginger devotes so much effort into developing a fast and effective defence. Golovkin might have to resort to mauling Canelo at close range and investing in the body. But with Canelo's beefy weight increase that will likewise be tough.

The one hole that I see in canelo's approach lately is that his workrate has gone down and that he's looking for big shots to hurt his opponents with. That might not be viable against GGG who has a good defence and a great chin himself.

Defiantly saw his workrate slow down when he was plodding in the later rounds against BJS.
As you say, GGGs speed has slowed down so I guess, If he can work on more power to the body against Canelo that could be a deciding factor of victory.

Fight him at 168 or even 175, that slows Canelo down a little. People are going off the fights at 160, Canelo is carrying more weight now and isn't as agile. Golovkin will get a little power boost too, mainly from not cutting weight. Canelo's PED tank will have a limit at higher weights and Golovkin should be able to tire him in a dogfight.

Golovkin's power isn't 'mythical', that's ridiculous. Even Canelo, who hates him, said it was 9/10 in an interview out of the ring. Canelo was rocked in both fights in a way he hasn't been from anyone else in recent times.

Golovkin has to go for it, as everyone knows by now. But Canelo isn't so easy to hit clean as everyone also knows.

So basically, slow Canelo by fighting him at highter weight, drag Canelo into a tiring machismo dogfight (which should be easier now Canelo is overconfident and considers himself a power pressure fighter), smash Canelo in the head until Canelo falls over and can't get up. Or break a rib or two.

    he doesnt

unless any 175 monster turns canelo into damaged goods before fighting gg. Quite unlikely, and it does not depend on gg.

    KO
If he doesn’t sell out for the KO he loses.
If Márquez can do it against Paquiao in the 4th fight at 40 years old.
GGG can do it too. It just takes Balls.

This is an extraordinarily unbiased, well-balanced analysis. Well done.

He’s 40 in a week. So he cannot beat Alvarez as a 39 year old.

He won't win a decision. He needs to bait Canelo into a big left hook. He could do this by staying ultra defensive and making Canelo commence all the exchanges.

    His own PEDs

    An all out war

    Hope to land a bomb

Set a trap (more than one so there is less predictability to him)

Or he can try and counter in spurts like Canelo does and beat him at his own game

Push Canelo back, remove his space and leverage and keep turning him so he keeps resetting

I dont think Canelo can fight as good as he used to (2015-2019) and now only fights in spurts.
