at 44-0, does Floyd Mayweather Jr. deserve credit for never being upset?

The theory that Mayweather cherry picks and ducks may have some merit, depending on how an individual wants to view it, but the fact is, the man is 44-0. Unbeaten. Almost every ATG was upset at some point. Here is five guys that would be on just about everybody's top 10 list...

Sugar Ray Robinson - going in 40-0, upset by Jake Lomatta in '43
Muhammad Ali - going in 30-0, upset by Joe Frazier in '71
Joe Louis - 24-0, upset by Max Schmeling in '36
Roberto Duran - 31-0, upset by Esteban De Jesus in '72
Henry Armstrong lost 3 of his first 4 fights.

Mayweather is 44-0, with much better opponents on his resume than Marciano, Calzaghe, or even Chavez when he was 44-0.

Even if you do believe that he has had his share of ducks and cherry picks, do you think he deserves credit for not being upset in a sport where upsets are VERY common, almost inevitable? There are several guys who had the tools to upset. There are several fights that with slight differences, he could have been upset.

I don't think any of the fab 4 could have made it through FMJ's resume w/o being upset at some point.

No fighter would ever be upset and would go undefeated fighting the cab drivers and high school teachers Floyd has fought.

Bull****. There are fighters on Floyd's resume that Hagler, Hearns, and especially Duran wouldn't have beaten. If for nothing else other than stylistic reasons, none of those three would have made it through unscathed. Leonard, not so sure.

You are delusional clearly the worst post I have ever seen on here.
Yea I can really see Hatton Guerrero a shot mosley a shot dlh a battle weary cotto totally dominating Duran and Hagler you are clearly right.

And for the record sugar ray leonard makes floyd look slow and cruises to a UD look even mayweather senior has said the fighters were better than floyds competition today and floyd wouldn't beat them.

Puh-leez. Castillo beat him in the first fight and he struggled against a past his prime Oscar and almost got ko'd by a past his prime Mosley. Absolutely no one in Floyd's resume would beat any of the Fab 4. Funny****.

Mosley suffers his first knock out if he faces the beasts that are the Fab 4. No one ever lasted 12 with Tommy Hearns, Mosley would have been no exception.

Hell no. He fought hardly any of his "dangerous" opponents in their prime. With the way he was looking in the Ghost fight, I'd have to wager against him surviving in the ring against Duran, Hearns, etc.
