Carl Froch has repeatedly said himself that 'time is not on my side'. There is no doubt that his last several fights were his biggest, but that has little to do with the fact that he is almost certainly on the slide already, physically speaking. By age 33, most supermiddleweights are past their prime. Not horribly shot by any means, but definitely on the slide. Styles do determine which fighters slow down quicker than others, but this too is against the cobra: Froch's face-first style will only lead his reflexes to deteriorate quicker than the average fighter. Now Froch's strengths include stamina and power, and these should hold up while his reflexes fade. But this begs the question, if Froch's accuracy and already leaky defence are getting worse, could this hurt him in the early rounds of the Super 6 tournament?
Any fighter can lose at anytime, and Froch is a good bet to lose to a number of superior fighters. For some reason, he didn't lose to Pascal (LHW titlist), Taylor (former undisputed middleweight champ) or any other mediocre fighters he faced.
In depends. So many factors. Froch started his pro career late remember so the super 6 tourney might have come at just the right time. His problem is taking too many flush shots and this will slow him down eventually
Froch's defense is not great....don't see him doing much at this point in his career and at 33 years old to change...if Taylor had survived the last round, he would've/should've gotten the decision...I think Kessler and Abraham are the two strongest guys in the division. I don't know how much Froch has slipped becuase I've very few of his earlier fights....but he does have good power and stamina as you said....but his limited skills and shody defense will be his undoing....I'm not a Calzaghe fan by any means, but Slappy would've given Froch an embarrassing beating.
well he doesnt have a vast fight record, lacks a lot of wars up until recently and only turned professional about 7 years ago, prime should not be based on age froch has a couple of world class years left in him without a doubt,he also has natural strength an economic style and solid chin, age wont bother these factors much.
Its not so much the age but the mileage. Froch turned pro pretty late i think at 25 so he is much fresher in his 30's than say someone like Morales was when he reached 30. His style doesnt help him though but i think he still has a good couple of years ahead of him.
Age is the last thing Froch should worry about. He nearly/should have lost to a MW. Was saved by the opponent's lack of stamina. He will be ktfo by Kessler.
Don't worry. Axe is a known SMW hater. Axe - go back to but-plugging Adamek and otherwise just shut up you stupid hater.
"Slipped" would imply he had reached some elevated pinnacle of performance, correct? If so, I'm having difficulty answering.
Yes the flush shots to the noggin don't help. He does have the heart though. Also Froch had an extensive amateur career which will no doubt play a factor as well.
