Froch has'nt gone through a lot of wear and tear in his relatively short career. I don't even think his fights with pascal and taylor have taken much out of him. I'll say that given his style and age, realistically he's got 3 good (possible fruitful) years in him.
Alright, but what about Froch's extensive amateur career? Wouldnt that also be a factor? He had many battles there with solid fighters (eg Denis Inkin).
It's only his problem he got far at this age. Time might not be on his side or whatever but that's how it is. If he thinks time is going to betray him I doubt he'll continue fighting and put his life on the line.
True. Froch hasn't fought long grueling fights until recently so he should have far more miles left in him than a normal 33 year old. Froch is a young 33 year old and is just entering his prime - these are his own words.
I think he'll be fine to get through the tournament- I just wouldn't bet on many more bouts for him after it's over, win or lose.
He's also constantly reiterating the fact that he started later than a guy like Ricky Hatton, and that all boxers have a certain time scale in the sport regardless of when they turn pro. I agree with that, I don't think he has too many miles on the clock. Apart from his step into world class he hasn't really struggled, Brian Magee is the only other fight I saw him work hard in. It's not like he ever had speed or reflexes to lose, he's trading on strength, will, toughness and punching power.
He says his physical performance is still improving and i believe that. I think with his work ethic his training is bound to become more efficient and we won't see any real decline for a couple of years. He is also still improving as a fighter, particularly with each big fight (experience), so theres nothing to be negative about.
Froch is the consummate professional. He lives a clean healthy lifestyle and looks fit between fights. He's had very few hard fights and even though he fought as an amateur,i dont think this is indicative of "miles on the clock". I think he has 2 or 3 good years left in him, having said that if he was to slip up in the super 6 who's to say he'll want to continue.
Interesting thoughts. Froch strikes me as the type of guy who will continue fighting long after suffering a couple losses.
My thoughts exactly, but in boxing you never know. Some of these guys will fight on long after father time tells them its over.
Frochs old and slow. Remember when people were saying he was using Dawson for sparring? Dawson would beat the **** outta Froch!:tired
