No one is making a case for Mayweather at 130, which surprises me. Who do people take over him at 130? I could maybe see an Arguello pick, but after that.....

Nelson would be a tougher fight than Arguello methinks.

I agree, I just wonder if Mayweather can keep him at bay with the jab and outbox him through 12 or will Nelson be too much for Floyd when push comes to shove? Thats one ATG matchup I would love to see.

Joe Calzaghe had 20+ title defenses by beating men his own size, not blown up welterweights! Popkins claimed fame by beating Trinidad and Oscar.

Trinidad doesn't belong at 160 and Oscar?! He started out his career @ lightweight! Where did Popkins start?! At LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT for God's sake.

And don't forget that a prime Popkins had some real close decisions with journey men, he never dominates his opponent. He beat an overrated Tarver but I hope you have enough credibility to not even mention that since Tarver is one of the most inconsistent champs of all time.

Joe admitted Hopkins was passed his prime before he fought him.

Joe called him "Old Man Popkins", then ekes out a split decision. :-(

A couple of posters have already stated that Popkins should replace Joe in that list, I'm just making an argument which states otherwise.

Joe escaped with a split decision against way past his prime "Popkins".....:-(

Again, Popkins was not as smart back then, his counter right was not as developed so "prime Popkins" is not any different from today's Popkins.

You have obviously NEVER seen a prime Hopkins. I am going to place you watching your first Hopkins fight around the time of Eastman or Taylor. Irregardless of what you THINK is his prime...or what you have READ is his prime, your comments prove that you have no idea WHEN his prime was or HOW GREAT HE REALLY WAS during that prime.

    :patsch

Should I even try ripping the **** out of this post...or is it even worth my effort???

    :patsch

My god in 34 posts (or more by the time some read this) you have already exposed yourself as not only a blind biased Calzaghe fanatic...but also an uneducated poster who believes what he sees in boxrec as truth.

Please...leave this thread alone, your exposing your lack of ACTUAL BOXING KNOWLEDGE badly...I almost feel bad.

His case was not whether or not Lacy is comparable to Hopkins, but that polls can't be used as an argument of truth.

Polls just reflect consensus, and is often pretty far from the truth, just in the case of Lacy vs JC, as was suggested.
