Add in the single body shot that crumpled Virgil Hill. A fighter doesn't go from middleweight to heavyweight without being able to punch.

There were fighters like Bob Foster that had astounding one punch power at light heavyweight - but in the context of Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins - RJJ has the power.

Jones. I don't think it's even close either. The only thing that makes this hard to decide is Hopkins putting Tarver and Calzaghe down and Jones not being able to finish anyone off in years. But it's just a case of Jones being afraid/reluctant to follow through on his punches. He lacks his killer instinct. But I think he will try to finish Calzaghe early this weekend and although I hope Calzaghe wins and expect it to be the case I would not be surprised to see Jones stop him. Yes I know Calzaghe has a very good chin, but it's not impossible for him to be stopped.

We're talking about current Roy. Current Roy's power has dwindled significantly.

Exactly, that's why I specified "At Present." Some of these responses don't seem to answer the question.

Well if we take everything that we've seen at face value form recent fights then it would seem Hopkins has the heavier hands. He's dropped Tarver and Calzaghe whereas Jones hasn't stopped anyone in years.

But I still say Jones hits harder.

I gotta go with Roy. I'm reflecting on the way he dropped Tito.

Roy was always the bigger puncher.

But watch some of Nard's earlier work and the commentators considered him a "puncher". And in several matches they harped on about the other guys skills and called them the boxer but would bring up the fact that Nard had so many early stoppages. He was pretty brutal at times back in the day.
Bernard has some pop naturally and is very technically sound with his punches. Its just he has developed a more defensive, careful style over time.
