Negotiations were over when Mares turned down the $1 mill offer. TR got the #2 for less than the #3. Business 101. All that transpired since was damage control on GBP's part. Arum said the lawyers are still working on it and it will be revisited for Donaire's next fight if he beats Rigo.

They pay Mares/GBP 1 million and promote the fight
GBP pays them 3 million and let GBP promote it
Or fighting Rigondeaux

 

its not about money with some fighters its about legacy, and in the end the fine print is what you worry about, GBP promotes it why should they Donaire is the Champion and Arum is his promoter TR should promote the fight period if Mares wants a shot at the Champion its going to be on their terms.

GBP is likely to be setting him up, if Mares gets fouling again and again as he does in all of his fights under GBP nothing will be done about it they will have the ref and the judges in their pockets no need for Donaire to risk what he worked for to fight under those conditions if GBP has confidence in Mares let Top rank put the fight together and have Mares face the champ on the champs tersm

 

Take the 3 mill if it is a legit contract.


That said Mares should have accepted the mil to begin with. No way GBP pays Nonito 3 and Mares over 1.

 

and you know, that could be true. Golden Boy did so some fishy crap in the Moreno/Mares fight as well. The thing is Donaire just seems to be making excuse after excuse.
Schaefer said he'd pay them 3 million and then Nonito said, well send the contract then. He didn't mention not wanting GBP to promote it or having it be under his rules. Nonito just said, "send the contract"

Now that they actually sent it, now he's changing the tune.

is he changing his tune or is his promoter telling GBP to **** off? Donaire isnt making excuses he and his trainer have been very vocal on Twitter they want the fight, but Arum being a lawyer understands the language in that contract and likely sees some **** that doesnt sit right with him.

Even if it is the smallest details such as how Donaire is treated venue ref judges what ever the Champion is the one who has the right to have his demands met he earned that in the ring, so if they are seeking a little bit more here I dont blame them.

I do not see Mares as a threat at all to Donaire.... Mares struggled with Vic, and Perez... no fighter of late has been able to take the fight to Donaire, nothing will change with Mares.

of course, but the problem is this became news not even a full 2 days and the fans are already calling for Donaires head... fights like this take time to be made offers, counter offers and counter counter offers.

Why lable the man a ducker especially when his resume says other wise the man is not a ducker, i mean if anything you could say Mares ducked Santa Cruz who has been calling him out and on live TV Mares said he doesnt want that fight, why not make that fight you have a common promoter....

The issue is TR doesn't make more money. Donaire doesn't make more money. Go to any of the sites that have the contract posted. Read Arums comments and show me in the contract where he is wrong. You can't. Arum knows contracts. His wording is very specific. NOW GBP SAYS they want to negotiate after TR moved on. Oh well. Whatever.

Now Mares gets to fight his mando next. Mexico's Victor "Viking" Terrazas has been ordered by Hose Sillyman. What do you think Mares makes off of that fight? Quarter mill? At least it keeps the winner of Nonito/Rigo from getting stuck with that dog of a fight. TR wins in pretty much every aspect this round. :yep

I believe Donaire would make more if the 3 mill was legit. Just my belief. I simply don't know the details and can only speculate on past figures. I think I read Donaire's last bout was $1.2 mill. I don't know what ends up in his pocket. You know something you are holding back? If he ends up with more for facing Rigo then this whole thing is gets even stupider.
