At the end of the day what has more prestige: to be P4P 1 boxer or P4P 1 MMA fighter?

I know they are different sports. Apples and oranges. But i was having a debate with a co-worker. He is a huge MMA fan and im a huge boxing fan. He said that the best MMA fighter is THE BEST FIGHTER PERIOD.

Although MMA fighters have a variety of weapons in their arsenal i consider the best boxer P4P whether it was Mayweather or Pacquiao now more important and more of a celebrity than the best MMA fighter who is if im not mistaken George St-Pierre.

anyway what do you guys think?

boxing overall has more prestige. Even though MMA is getting very popular they dont make **** compared to boxing. They are getting ripped off bad by the promoters in MMA.

Anyway if there was a dominate longtime champ in MMA going without defeats and having 30-0 records that would be insanely impressive. They seem to loose more and not have as long of winning streaks.

Good post and very true. They had Chuck Liddell last for a while, but he ended most of his fights standing not ground and pound. Too bad he does not have the agility as a boxer, he would have been a good CW champ with that power of his.

Except for a very few martial arts enthusiast, outside North America, Brazil and some other countries, I doubt if the casual sports fans ever heard of MMA…

Boxing is universal so is a lot more prestigious…
