This isn't exactly a Calzaghe hate thread, this is just a thread made because there's so many people talking about this guy like he's just so great & I feel he is highly overrated. He's good, but but not a great! Before he beat Hopkins & Jones, no one, including overseas fans, were considering him ATG or HOF material! But from that time til now, he's being considered an ATG & HOF fighter!

Calzaghe gets all this credit for his last 2 performance & is considered an all time great, considered a guy who would've beat Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones & James Toney all in their primes. Well here is the one FACT, TRUE STATEMENT, thats gonna kill all these statements:

Calzaghe's last 2 & biggest performances have come against men with an average age of 41 years old! :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

There's no statement capable of giving Joe props that can overshadow that one! Have fun discussing!

Yeah, the poll options clearly indicate that this is in no way a Calzaghe hate thread.

Joe Calzaghe was influenced by Rick James as a child.

Yeah 46-0 is a terrible record. What a measured critique......

Let's not forget that one of those old men went on to have, in his own words, one his best ever performances.

You can use Roy's age and shotness to detract Calzaghe, and rightly, all day long. But not Bhop. At light heavy the executioner went on a career best string of victories over tarver, wright, and pavlik within the space of four fights and he only narrowly lost to Joe in that time.

He still wasn't his best! Main reason why most feel that was his best performance ever is cause he was counted out from the start!

Hopkins was arguably at his best in 2001 when he beat Trinidad. He was also at 160. He also turned down a fight with Calzaghe around this time. He wasn't 'peak' but he has been better at 40+ in light heavy than in the previous few years at 160. Calzaghe went up in weight and beat a very good version of Hopkins who had just beat wright and tarver and would go on to spank pavlik.
