I'll give you Jones but Hopkins showed he's still got enough in the tank to kick some serious ass still.

LoL. You bring up Hopkins turning down Joe. First of all, what does that have to do with this thread, second, where's your proof that Joe was turned down by Hopkins? Were you talking about Hopkins turning down Joe years ago?

My point is that when hopkins was at his best he didnt want to fight Joe. This is relevant when your thread is bashing calzaghe for fighting old men. The Joe/Hopkins/Showtime situation is well known. A career high payday of 3mil was agreed for hopkins, who at the 11th hour decided he wanted 6mil instead. Its been brought up countless times and has been confirmed by the Showtime boss.

When he was at his best hopkins didnt want anything to do with calzaghe so you can't criticise joe for fighting him when he was older

And i think its telling you ignord my other points and focussed on this

JOE has an impressive record at 46-0 but too bad! The wins over GREAT names came a little too late in their careers..

Bhop is already 43 years old. Yes, Bhop won over Palvic but if you say Bhop is PRIME. You're kidding yourself

RJJ win was great but then again it's seems a bit shallow win in the sense that we all know that RJJ that fought CALZ recently is just a fraction of his old self in the early 2000's.

Yes! A win is a win but too bad it came a little bit to late on Calz career! If he won those fights in their peak of their career.

IS THERE ANYTHING TO ARGUE ABOUT the supposedly greatness of CALZ?

Too bad for CALZ he went out of his comfort zone on the later part of his career !

I didnt say bhop was prime, i said it was a very good version of him and a better version than he was for a few years at middleweight. However, I wouldn't call the RJJ victory great, in fact id call it a gimme. Jones was years from a significant victory and years and years from his best.

Calzaghe has only got himself to blame for the question marks over his legacy, but the Hopkins win, despite an ugly performance by both, deserves a lot of credit based on bhop's immediately prior and post performances

Why is saying a guy isn't an ATG disrespectful. Making jingoistic comments like that is disrespectful.

Calzaghe is a great fighter, he beat Chris Eubank who i think is probablly one of the best technical fighters i have ever seen, if he would not have put that guy in a wheel chair and retired 1/2 way through his career he would be one of the biggest legends in boxing.

Calzaghe best Robin Reid, he was a good boxer, Kessler i rate very highly he will unify the Middle weight division, he beat ritchie woodhall a former world champion. when he beat Jef Lacy he was suppose to be the next Tyson, he beat Sakio Bika, i know he can't fight very well but he can head but and he beat Roy Jones JR and Bhop.

saying Calzaghe likes fighting old men and slaps is disespectul to all the opponents he as faced.

Two of Calzaghe's most notable opponents were around forty. In the later years of Calzaghe's career he has tended to slap rather then punch do to his hand problems. This touches a nerve with Calzaghe fans because it is true. I don't know how saying he has fought old men lately and his style has become more slappy disrespects Eubank. In fact it says nothing at all about Calzaghe's fight with Eubank. Perhaps Americans are blunt and that bothers you?

i love the title of the thread. its joes trademark in which he uses almost everyother sentance.

"at the end of the day" ... "so end of the day"... "and end of the day.."
