Both were dominant and both had incredible accomplishments. But for the sake of answering the question, I'll go with Pernell. He was arguably a top three light weight, where as I don't know if Jones ranks top three in any of the divisions he fought in. Whitaker fought hall of famers like Neilson, Chavez, and McGirt ( last one I'm not sure about ) and basically beat them all, save for the robbery against Julio..

That post I just read underlines it for me actually.

I think pea is harder to beat. Jones never really dealt with a top hard hitting pressure fighter. That's the difference for me.

Sweet pea is a legit top 10 atg

And he doesn't deserve to be in the conversation with Roy jones

That's why sugar Ray Robinson isn't even worthy to hold Roy's jock strap

Roy was once in a lifetime

Pernell, while very good, was not the fighter Jones was. He didn't have the speed nor the crippling power so Jones was by far more dominant

Roy dominated every fighter before him except Hopkins (becuz of the broken hand and weight problem but still won easily 9-3 no sweat)

becuz of this, there is no way to say which performance was most dominant becuz no one could give him a fight

I would love to see the top 10 ATG P4P list that includes Whitaker...

Roy was an extremely talented boxer who fashioned his technique to his unique talents. As those talents eroded he was found to be decidedly lacking. When Robinson's talent eroded he still had sufficient skill to be a champion. I like Roy more than most, but he wasn't hungry enough and didn't quite build the resume to mentioned in the same breath as Robinson... let alone Langford or Greb or Louis.

Respect to both, but I was never a fan of either guy.

I was a big fan of Chavez and Dela Hoya.

As far as I'm concerned Whitaker beat them both. Robberies aside, I'm not sure that Jones ever fought anyone of that calibre.

    I say Sweet Pea.
