i common knowledge to most boxing fans that quarry was the next person to have deserved a world title after ali, frazier, foreman and norton but terell was a pretty good fighter in his day. beating doug jones, bob foster, chuvalo and eddie machen. both chuvalo and machen beat quarry.

i think it would be a pretty even matchup.

First of all, Terrell didn't beat Chuvalo. I've watched that fight numerous times and like Ali vs Norton III, it was a robbery. I couldn't count enough rounds that Terrell won in order to justify the decision win over Chuvalo. I find it odd that most of the press goes over to George's corner assuming that they're interviewing the winner, congratulating him only to be shafted by the judges after the final announcement.

I believe Quarry's short left hook and body work would be the deciding factor against Terrell. Unless the fight is stopped on cuts due to Quarry's penchant for bleeding, Terrell gets KO'd late or Quarry wins a UD.

Terrell vs. Quarry is a very interesting match-up. It would be a good fight, but I cannot see Jerry losing. Quarry was the tougher and more dangerous. I think Quarry's boxing and counterpunching abilities, combined with his punching power, would have proven too much for Terrell to deal with over the long run.

Ernie definitely gives Quarry some trouble, but Quarry would eventually take full control of this fight and win by later round stoppage or a very clear cut decision.

Watch the films of Terrell's fight against Thad Spencer to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Quarry was physically akin to Spencer, but he did everything better than him. Terrell's troubles with Spencer would have been magnified several-fold against Quarry.

Terrell's great height, reach and excellent left jab would make this contest interesting, but inevitably Jerry would find the mark with his heavy counter right hands and left hooks. Quarry would also eat Terrell up on the inside.

I agree. I like Jerry Quarry on this one.
