its not close... the losses on toney's record are more meaningful than any of the wins on calzaghe's record
I like Toney and think he's a rare talent, but this question isn't easy to answer. Toney has fought a lot of good fighters and shown he can compete in many divisions. But his career is more than a little marred. On the flipside to what I just mentioned as a positive, you have to argue that laziness and downright unprofessionalism caused him to bounce from division to division rather than any desire for a challenge. He faded into total obscurity for a significant portion of his career. His subsequent return to the limelight was short-lived as he was soon exposed as a drugs cheat. He also showed up to someone of his biggest fights in appalling condition. A "legacy" encompasses everything. Not just highlights.
What about Oscar? I realize it's not cool to give Oscar credit for anything, but he's fought everyone. And soon he'll even be so brave as to fight everyone's obvious pick for GOAT. :yikes
Surprising how many of you think a fat drugs cheat who failed to dominate any division and lost 6 times has an impressive legacy.
Toney has never proven he is the best at any weight. Cherry picking to avoid the competition and because you don't have self-dicipline to say no to the next several burgers... that is not what greatness is made of.
The only thing is he didn't win the WBA title. Technically at least. So that wont go down in history as one of his accomplishments, he gained titles from MW to CW, no higher.
