Canelo struggled in his last fight too? Time obviously favors Canelo but people are being a bit harsh on Martinez.
I think I would slightly favor Canelo at this point but let's not forget that Martinez is fighting big middleweights and finds a way to hurt them at least once, Canelo is shorter, smaller with shorter reach, and his workrate is quite low. Martinez would definitely not get 'killed' in this fight.
i've heard martinez saying he can't fight floyd since floyd now with showtime. same situation here. martinez under contract with hbo.
No he doesn't you mug! In this moment Martinez is better but who knows, Alvarez has awesome potential.
Canelo would probably give away four rounds on purpose. It's frustrating watching him fight sometimes. Just no activity in some rounds. Sure he slips and tries to be cute, but he doesn't do a whole lot of punching off of his movement and defensive maneuvers. It'd still be close if it goes to the cards. I don't really trust Canelo's finishing ability even if he gets Martinez into trouble at some point, which is what I would ultimately expect somewhere in the middle/late rounds. I'd be more comfortable putting money on Quillin to stop Martinez than I would Canelo.
i think right now there is a race to sign a fight with sergio, i wouldnt be surprised if floyd is trying to get it as well. i was shocked how easy it was for murray to land the right on sergio, it was like sergio couldnt even see it coming. chavez jr, ggg, canelo and floyd should be doing everything they can to book the fight and be the one to hang that scalp off their belt.
