I don't agree with this at all. If Kessler was Joe's only good showing, or high-level win, then it might be accurate.

It wasn't, and Calzaghe ended up easily defeating Kessler as it was. Wins over Hopkins, Lacy, Mitchell, Brewer and Eubank all have Joe in very good shape.

His legacy is secure, and even more so since he chose to finish his career fighting legitimate tests, unlike others with recent undefeated records.

Joe schooled Kessler one he made his adjustments, and he didn't need headbutts, elbows, a crooked ref or excessive clinching to do it. That shows you just how great the guy really was.

Calzaghe is the Greatest Supermiddle weight in history beat some of the best guys of his time. Lacy was not a **** win he ruined Lacy a good fighter and then Lacy started to look bad after. Kessler was a monster and Calzaghe beat him very convincingly and judging by the threads about Ward being dirty he has been disputed. He completley wreck RJJ who managed to comback and look amazing against Lacy and is setting up a Hopkins match, so much for shot. And he won vs Hopkins no dispute, out worked him and out did him. Hopkins had his moments but Joe won. Idiots should stay away from one of the classiest and most talented fighters in recent years.

Many will, yes. They are delusional and have no idea what they're talking about, but you have to understand -- they've been waiting for any reason to discredit Calzaghe and they think this is it.

First it was "Dawson would beat Calzaghe." Now it's Ward. Same old, same old. Don't worry about it.

Not true Kessler was an undefeated Champion when Joe beat him. Ward learned from the Calzage victory a few years later. I dont think it takes from Joes win.

Calzaghe beat an undefeated Kessler. Ward beating Kessler does not take away from Cal's win at all. Fans are not used to guys losing, and in this tournament, all of the favorites will not win. Legacy is determined after you retire, not while you're fighting. This is a cheap outlook by the TS, and the TS is either an alt of Dinamita, or a biased American. Judging fighters based off of wins and losses rather than the time you fought them is horrible. Mugabi fought Hagler tooth and nail for 10+ rounds yet Mugabi was ko'd by Terry Norris of all people in a round. Am I to say that Hagler fought a bum in Mugabi, or that Mugabi wasn't that good? Fuk out of here lol....

Calzaghe's resume is look more feeble than ever. At least he's got the Hopkins win. Sort of.

I love these honeymoon periods after a fight, it reminds me of when Kelly Pavlik beat Gary Lockett...how Calzaghe should fight him after he beat Hopkins, closely followed by KP getting completely shut out by Hopkins.

I missed the Kessler fight due to the stupid time it was on, so I won't really comment on it until I see it. But the posters do need to bear in mind Kessler was pretty much inactive since fighting Calzaghe so he was hardly at his best, and it does sound like Ward likes to dish out Glaswegian kisses.

People are seriously asking if Ward will be another Mayweather or Jones. That's how deluded things have become for my American countrymen. And it kind of tells you the state of the sport here, too. :(
