It think it started to look tarnished as soon as the tournament was announced.

If Calzaghe did come out of retirement now, there would be huge fights for him and huge money.

We know we has the skill, stamina, chin, but does he have the heart, desire and hands to be in the game from now on?

If you were him would you risk your undefeated record, health etc for £4m or so a fight?

I've seen the fight now, Ward is pretty good, he lunges a fair bit and can be untidy and he's very quick but I don't think his result tonight was as great as people are making it out on here. He's good at sticking his shoulder in and I do like his human torpedo attack.

Kessler was a bit gunshy and his timing was ****, he didn't look like a champ last night at all.

    Nice avatar by the way.

If Ward proved anybody was over rated it was Kessler. Not like Calzaghe was in the ring

Bernard Hopkins beat him in my eyes, he landed the cleaner punches, joe only won that fight was because he was the aggresor.

Tell that to the 80% of british commentators who covered the fight and gave it to hopkins (all three bbc radio judges and one of two setanta commentators)

it did take a hit no douby however to call it bull**** now is stupid because Kessler had good showings prior to this fight and also Calzaghe beat him rather convinsingly.

Much bigger hit was Lacy who turned out to be a bust and at the time he fought Calzaghe he was very highly regarded

How does it shine badly on Calzaghe? For me it just shows that Andre Ward is a superb fighter and Kessler couldnt get near him. Styles often make fights and Kessler's was no match for Ward. Calzaghe beat Kessler on the back of MK's wins over Andrade, Mundine, Beyer etc. You shouldn't forget that he Calzaghe beat his main challenger, undefeated and in his prime, unanimously, just like Lacy.

Calzaghe had a good career. Better than Floyd's career and much better than Cotto for that matter. He beat Kessler when he had to.

    What a load of crap.

Calzaghe beat a prime, undefeated, active Kessler.

Calzaghe beat a prime, undefeated, active Lacy.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins - the board is overwhelmed with claims of Hopkins being shot, old, past it, robbed etc.

Hopkins then goes on to school the undisputed MW champ in Pavlik in his next fight. Hopkins was unable to do that to Calzaghe.

Calzaghe beat RJJ - the board is suddenly overwhelmed with claims of RJJ being shot, well past it, carrying 2 vicious KO losses on his recent record, etc.

RJJ then goes on to school Lacy (yes, the same guy Calzaghe beat 3 years prior only older, injured and carrying 2 losses) and is revered for it, amid claims "RJJ is back!"

You ****s are a bunch of sooky brats :|:|:|

You need to learn to accept a win as well as a loss and move on, instead of looking for as many ways as possible to act like ****s.

I have no idea how a sport can attract so many unsportsmanlike supporters.

perfect point and Calzaghe is like only 3 or 4 years younger than RJJ
