That's right. New and improved, Marquez the new Finito is on his way to a boxing godlike status and don't be surprised when he tops Sanchez. He already cleaned out the lightweight division as far as im concerned with campbell moving up, and if he beats the winner of Pac/HAtton ( hope it's Pac ) and beats another big name then he'd be the second greatest Mexican fighter to ever..

    1. Chavez
    2. Marquez
    3. Sanchez
    4. Finito
    5. Morales
    6. Barrera

It would look like that.. ahhhh shiaaaat Marquez..

Hey Pachuggers, u guys still dreaming that PAc is a better fighter than Marquez?

I'm not sure. I mean, Marquez did beat Pacquiao, J. Diaz, and Casa, but Sal Sanchez in his short time beat Azuma Nelson, Wilfredo Gomez, and Danny Lopez.

That best ever mexican list is crying out for ruben olivares, he could possibly be the best ever though i do rate chavez slightly higher.

Difficult question, it is certanly possible for marquez to go past sanchez, if he beats pac and gets the decision this time i might rate him higher, i think sanchez was a better fighter but obviously with him dying so young its possible for marquez to get a better resume

Azuma,Gomez, and Lopez were great wins in a such a short time period but Nelson was a young pup at the time and he was very green... GOod win regardless but nelson hadn't hit his prime yet.

Marquez beat Pac ( Unoffically ) who's a much more accomplished fighter than Gomez so he should get just as much credit.

Beating Danny Lopez and Juan Diaz deserves the same credit. Personally, I rate Diaz higher than Danny lopez.

Im in awe by Salvador Sanchez just like the next person but I think he tends to get too much credit for dying young.

Marquez needs 2 more big fights and he could top Sanchez.

I say JMM has surpassed SS. Sal beat a great but small Gomez who never won at 126. He looked mediocre in his other title fights. Red Lopez, lets face it he was exciting but pretty much defenseless. Azumah had 10 pro fights and a late rplacement and it was tough fight.

Watch Sals fights, the guy was a counterpuncher but he was in wars and got hit a ton. I doubt he could have gone fighting thru his 30's like JMM. He would have probably ended up like Morales.

Also I hate to say it dying early certainly adds up to the mystique.

Case in point, before his death. The fight between him and Arguello always surfaced as the dream fight, Alexis was the consensus pick, now do another poll. SS comes out on top

There are lot of great Mexican fighters, Id say JCC is the greatest. Followed closely in no order of Olivares, Ortiz, Napoles, Sanchez, then you have the wave of Erik, JMM, MAB, Lopez

I personally had the first Marquez-Pac fight for Pac and the 2nd for Marquez (115-112) but the difference being, although both fights were close and debatable, Sanchez overwhelmed Gomez from the start and brutally stopped him, when Gomez was like 32-0 (32) and regarded as the P4P hardest hitter and possibly the P4P best (had beaten Zarate who was seen as one of the top P4P fighters so he earned that recognition)

Even if Marquez HAD been given the decision, Sanchez's win over Gomez would surpass that. Pac may be a better fighter overall than Gomez, but Sanchez's win over THAT Gomez is as big as any in the history of boxing. A lower weight Foreman-Ali if you will.

Still, good points all round, Sanchez is mainly high up due to his H2H standing as well as his brilliant resume (for a young guy anyway)

JMM CAN surpass him in resume. But in terms of ATGness, Sanchez will always be slightly higher due to the Gomez win. JMM could beat lots of other really good guys and he still wouldn't get to that.

Also, Danny Lopez is a better fighter than Juan Diaz. Diaz could surpass him, but as they stand now, Lopez is better. Just my opinion though.

What if Marquez beats Pacman in the next fight? Or if he knocks out Hatton next? Either one of those (which is not out of the realm of possibility) could happen and if it does Marquez moves past him.

Although I had JMM beating PacMan, he falls short because of the lack of big names on his resume, which is not his fault. Most of the big names preferred not to fight him a few years back.

I'm a Pac fan but I don't disagree with you. JMM maybe is a better fighter, it is just that apparently, his best is not enough to beat Pac. He tried twice but failed twice. JMM and his fans could only take the consolation that both fights were so close that could go either way but records will remain that it was a draw and a loss for him against Pac.

It was Pac who beat JMM, not the other way! You can not factor something that is not!
