Watching a 34 year old golovkin fighting less than stellar competition, I was trying to think of other fighters who at an advanced age, we're finally able to prove that they were ATGs. Question: how old was Archie Moore when he removed all doubt that he was a truly special fighter? Can you name any other fighters who were finally able to prove greatness well into their 30s?

    vlad is one.

it's hard to answer the moore question because it depends what you think of the murderers row in general. i'd say it was certain once he beat maxim again.

By the end of 1946 ,how old he was depends on whether you believe him or his Mother.

By 1950, though he could not beat Ezzard Charles, but he was better than Harold Johnson, plus Joey Maxim wouldn't give him the deserved title shot. Pretty much everyone in boxing knew what the deal was.

Archie may have gotten Ezzard that fourth time. It was the 50's, afterall.
