I think the boxing world viewed BHop in a different light after his dismantling of Tarver at LHW. Prior to that, he was the cagey vet who looked like he was on his way out after 2 close losses to Taylor. But after the Tarver win, he kept adding to his legacy by continuing to pull rabbits out the hat but the genesis of his old age success was the Tarver fight.

When you become legendary though? I feel it happens over time for some rather than a fight.

Like JMM, I feel he became an atg somewhere when Pac went on that crazy run after their second fight. More cause of what Pac did then what he did himself in that period.

You have these legscy investment type fights where in hindsight people will label a guy an atg at a earlier point than what was thought of at the time.

 

Yeah, im inclined to as well. But maybe morales and mab were already atg's at that point after their trilogy.

I would argue Pac to be considered an atg after Morales 2 or jmm 2.

Say Duran gets schooled by leonard and never fights again. He would still be arguably fighter of the decade in the 70's and the lightweight goat.
So with Duran it feels like after a dejesus win in the 70's and the longetivity making him an atg.
