At what point did Lewis overtake Holyfield and Tyson?

even bert sugar has tyson and holyfield ranked higher than lewis

 

Bert Sugar is a poor analyst though. Just because he's famous, his actual judging of fighters is **** POOR.

I have him 8th, although I have to read up more about him/watch him (and Jack Johnson and more of the old-timers) :yep

 

8th is fair enough IMO

Wouldn't have Johnson in my top ten personally:good

Anyway, back to the thread, this is how I rank Lennox, Holy and Tyson:

5. Lennox Lewis
10. Evander Holyfield
12. Mike Tyson

Lennox probably ranked ahead of both of them after his '2nd' win against Holyfield, then further improved his ranking with some good victories over the likes of Tua and Vitali.

 

Those rankins seem very good to me. And with the Heavys, more than any other division, it's 'what you like' IMO

struggling to split tyson and lewis, if 87 tyson fought prime lewis, either early ko for tyson or a points win lewis ,

 

I respectfully disagree as the consensus at the time was that Vitali was a physically gifted, dangerous enigma who would be a test for Lewis.

 

Many people also wanted to see how Lewis would adjust to being in the ring with a skilled,explosive opponent who was also bigger than him as he enjoyed a size advantage against virtually all of his opponents up to that point. Lennox-Vitali wasn't the foregone conclusion that you're making it out to be.
