I've never seen Tommy Hearns look so powerful or hit as hard as the night he fought Roberto Duran, ironically Light Middleweight or Super Welterweight is probably the division in which he had his worst knockout percentage. IMO he looked to drained as a Welterweight but one can't dismiss his knockout record, which weight do you think he was hitting his hardest pound for pound??
Yeah that's correct but IMO he looked perfect for Light Middleweight, super strong and devastating power.
There's not much argument for anything but 147, I think. The Duran fight was an aberration at 154. He did that kind of thing rather routinely at 147.
Probably 154. Maybe 147. What he did to normally strong chinned Cuevas and Duran was devastating. At 160, the only guy he starched with one punch was Shuler, who didn't have a great chin. At 168 he landed bombs on Kinchen and absolutely nothing happened. At 175 he was just a decent puncher.
I think he still had great power at 154. Minchillo just had a rock chin and he couldn't hit Benitez much. Medal had a good chin too.
At Welterweight, the higher he moved up, the more he fought guys closer to him physically, so it's 147.
I'd say 147 or 154. I mean, he punched harder the bigger he got, but obviously there are diminishing returns as the opponents become bigger and more durable. I'm not sure that happened between 147 and 154 though. I think his power went up proportionately in that case.
he essentially grew into 154 and although duran did have an iron chin, he was still a blown up lightweight of haggler fought tyson he would gets knocked out too
