I believe Chavez could have gotten a strap at 147lbs had he fought another lesser titlelist..problem was he challenged Pernell ****ing Whitaker and a younger, bigger, faster peak De La Hoya for the titles. Something that sets Julio apart from today's modern "greats".

    :deal Exactly.
100 wins w/o a loss was definitely the benchmark they were after.

I would have given Chavez a great chance to beat McGirt & Blocker @ WW.
Simon Brown however would have been a nightmare of a fight.
    (Brown was a beast)

    Tough fights.

McGirt looked tremendous in dethroning Brown, and really gave Pernell one hell of a fight when Pea moved up to face him in Buddy's backyard (MSG).

:deal The only prime fighters Floyd is fighting are 5 inches shorter and glass chinned with tremendous flaws. At least Guerrero is iron chinned and Floyd won't even fight Canelo. Neither Ortiz, Guerrero, or Canelo were as good as the Oscar Julio was facing.

Julio should've been an ATG Lightweight. He is H2H, of course.
    (Wish he stayed longer)

JCC stayed in his place though...fighting manditory opponents instead of OTHER CHAMPIONS...

What happened to the WBA 140lb title Chavez took from Meldrick Taylor????

He threw in in the trash rather than fight Raphael Pineda:deal

He fought a bum in pink shorts instead:rofl

Floyd started at 130 and won TITLES all the way to 154...

That not only takes skill...it takes strength DEFENSE and toughness...

How many WW titles does Chavez have???

How many SMW titles does he have???

Julio's style lacked the defense to be effective above 140.

When Chavez was Floyd's age he was getting his ass kicked by Willie Wise...for peanuts...he sure as hell wasn't the #1 p4p fighter in the world..

Say what you want about Floyd....he is deceptively strong and a beast on the inside...that is why he can move through weight divisions..

Everybody that fights him says the same thing in one form or another:

"he was a lot stronger than I thought"

    How are those 2 related?

Rosario was a murderous puncher & couldnt put a dent in Chavez. JCC wasnt phased by his power at all & kicked the **** out of him.

    Does Floyd have anything comparable?

Which of the fighters below was in the absolute beastly prime when Mayweather fought them?

154: Miguel Cotto - good win

147: Victor ortiz - where does he rank 147 all time or 147 at the time.

147: Shane Mosley - Rank this win according to the point in time of Shane's career.

147: JMM - against a 130 lbs fighter. Where does JMM rank ATG at 147?

147: Hatton - Where does Hatton rank ATG 147

154: ODLH - Rank this win according to the point in time of ODLH's career.

147: Baldomir- Where does Baldo rank ATG 147

147: Sharmba Mitchell - 5'0 Little big man -Where does he rank 147 ATG?

    140 -Gatti, Bruseles, Corley

    135: Ndou - eh

135: Castillo II - ran the entire fight

    135: - Castillo I - Castillo got robbed

    130: Chavez - good win

    130: Corrales - good win

    135: Augustus - eh

    130: Juuko - eh

    130: Vargas - who?

    130: Manfredy - decent win

130: Chicanito - RIP - It was Chicanito's last fight

He is hardly the ATG he and his fanboys claim to be and an absolute farse...

It was the IBF title he won from Meldrick. A Pineda fight would've been nice, but his vacating it had as much to do with Bob Arum squabbling over the purse split before the deadline passed than anything else. Honestly, the guy fought:

    '87 Edwin Rosario
    '90 Meldrick Taylor
    '93 Pernell Whitaker (JCC fading)
'96-'98 Oscar De La Hoya (JCC clearly past it)

All elite P4P fighters in their primes. Why would he be scared of Pineda, bro?

Ahem, how many times did Floyd UNIFIED?

care to explain his resume at 147lbs? Judah? Baldomir? 140lber in Hatton? 2 weight jumping JMM? Shot to **** Mosley? Victor Ortreez? :rofl:rofl:rofl

Had there been fighters the caliber of Pernell Whitaker and PRIME ODLH at 147lbs in Floyd's era, he would stay THE **** away, just how he stayed away from that "one dimensional Filipino Midget"

and lets not forget, Chavez would fight an avergae of 5 times a year, while Floyd nowadays fights a pathetic once a year.

Give Chavez Floyd's opponents at 147lbs and he'd be the undisputed Welterweight champ as well...****, if he would fight once a year like Floyd does, he would still be elite at Floyd's current age too.

and it was the IBF belt, genius. At least Julio fought another fellow champ in that division. Why didnt Floyd fight Freitas or casamayor when they were champs at 130lbs? Why didn't he fight Tszyu at 140lbs? Why didn't he fight a Prime Cotto or Paul Williams at 147lbs

Oh and that bum in pink shorts that he fought was in '96...Waaay after he vacated the IBF title. Get your **** straight before you talk boxing with me, kid.
