in a little while Ward will eclipse Calzaghe. The strength of the division at the top can only help Ward.

and yeah head to head I think Jones was teh best of the best but Ward will be far more accomplished than the 2 of them if he stays in teh division .

What strength? Calzaghe has beaten the Rings current #2 & #5. Fighters #5-#10 have done nothing at SMW.
Theres Bute but who else? The division is very empty, its just America is excited because they have a fighter who can compete at the weight and they hope that they have a fighter to compete at the weight with Calzaghe. Fact is even if Ward beat Bute it would still be a way off, though heading in the right direction

  4. How is Ward eligable for atg status yet? I dont get it, its like these threads matching up and coming Jr Middleweights, against former atg middleweights :/..

i think joes career could have been alot better, personally the smw division has always been weak, if he had gone up to lhw earlier I think he wouldnt have the 0 for long. In about 20 years or so Id say that jones will be remembered as the "greater fighter" of the three. Also I think that ward has no part in this converstaion right now, hes nowhere near the class of joe and roy IMO. At 168, joe will be considered the best, but in a weak division so his achievements wont be rated that highly. Hes the best at 168, but thats all he is.

I'd love to see Ward vs Bute or the Direll brothers, as well as a grudge rematch against Kessler. Clearly Ward could eclipse Calzaghe.

Unfortunately I expect Kessler do duck Ward, unless Ward comes to Denmark, and Ward to duck Kessler, unless Kessler gets mad and comes to Oakland.

I see the same pattarn develop with Ward vs Bute.

Ward till dominate the elder Dirrell brother, because that is his mandatory, apart from that we wont see ****. Dirrell is a confused kid who has ditched his promotor. He will beat up some low ranked fighters and get nowhere.

Ward would have so much to do to get close to Calzaghe.
Wards best win is Kessler then Froch

Calzaghe has Eubank, Kessler (undefeated), Lacy (undefeated), Mitchell, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Veit. All have been or were SMW world champs.
Then there are all the other top 10 SMWs, Starie, Bika, Sheika, Mkertchyan, Manfredo etc.

The Dirrell brothers havent done as much as Starie

Consider now that Bute is as old as Eubank when Calzaghe beat him, and Wards best win is a Calzaghe victim, in fact 2 of the current top 5 were beaten by Calzaghe years ago

No you live in some Calzaghe dimension, Ward is still young he has all the time in the world to surpass Calzaghe, he aint fighting in Joe "shadow" !!!
I guess you stopped watching boxing since Joe retired, so sad!

Ward is still young and can do well but who at SMW is there at this time to help Ward surpass. This will be good, I cant wait for this reply .
Ward is in Calzaghes shadow. Kessler is Wards big win and guess who took Kesslers 0? Calzaghe. Froch has only won vacant titles, one Calzaghe threw away and the other a Calzaghe victim threw away.

Tell me how that is not correct
