ATG FEATHERWEIGHT TOURNIE: QF 1 - WILLIE PEP UD15 EUSEBIO PEDROZA

Willie Pep glided into the semi-final with what can only be described as a routine win over all-time great opponent Eusebio Pedroza. Pedroza never really got started despite multiple different approaches; he tried to get his jab working in round one and was consistently countered by Pep right hands to the body and skiffing, quick combinations on the inside. What looked like a bad round was repeated in both the second and third before Pedroza abandoned his jab and stepped in. Pep responded by running and throwing occasional counter-punches but his superior speed meant he was consistently out-landing Pedroza who had few opportunities to throw and land punches. Leading with the right brought little reward but he did have some success charging Pep in the eighth and ninth before the Wisp adjusted and began digging with uppercuts.

At no time did Pedroza come close to bending but he finished the fight bloody and broken, a clear class below a man who had mastered him without issue.
