Ffs they are not retired yet. How are you going to determine an ATG when they're still fighting today.

Floyd has 2-6 fights left... wait till his career ends before making this poll.

    1) Mayweather has had more dominant performances

    2) People on this forum ignore losses

    3) I prefer to rank based on skill more than resume

Right now I'll take Hopkins, however I feel floyd will overtake Bhop with a win over Cotto and 2-3 more high level fighters

I think that's problematic. There are tons of fighters who look very skilled with sub-par fighters in front of them, and then fail during their toughest challenges. I'm not saying Floyd fits into that mold, but skills = how well you can apply your craft against the best opposition. Floyd has a very deep resume with some good wins, but I'd take Hopkins' achievements over Floyd's, considering he was the underdog several times against young dominant champions and beat them soundly, usually way past his prime. He beat an undefeated Pavlik coming off two wins against Taylor, beat Pascal right after he took Dawson's 0 in a spirited fight, schooled Tarver, schooled Winky, stopped a smaller but younger DLH, stopped Trinidad as a huge underdog at a weight where Trinidad showed he could still move and punch just as well, and I scored the Taylor fights in his favor. To me, those are more meaningful wins than those against Castillo, Corrales, DLH Hatton, and Judah.

In terms of technical skill alone, I'd also give Hopkins the edge. His mobility is much more dynamic, he throws a greater variety of punches, and he is able to force the fight on the inside as well as defend in the pocket; Floyd merely defends and counters on the inside against traditional pressure fighters. I also don't think he could advance his career to the age Hopkins has should he lose his speed and reflexes to the same degree, despite being very technically sound.

Bear in mind I really love what Floyd does in the ring; his versatility is amazing, his resume is impressive, and his style is nearly always a pleasure to watch. But I feel his biggest fans get too caught up in defending him in far too many cases where there are sound arguments against elements of his legacy. The same can be said for Manny, and an array of other fighters.

Fair enough. Mayweather still has 6 fights left as well.

Do you rank Hopkins higher than Jones?

    :deal It's so annoying!

Floyd ranks higher, Hopkins shouldn't get a pass for the defeats on his record.

Pavlik was a MW and he went up to fight B-Hop...He has never fought that high since. Winky was a JRMW. He made a career off beating smaller guys.
