ATG HW Mike Tyson or Muhammed Ali

Tyson may not even be a top ten all time heavyweight any more. His career doesn't begin to compare with Ali's.

 

I don't think there's ever been a HW that would beat the Ali who beat Cleveland Williams. Damn near untouchable. Even when he was older, whenever he could summon up the energy to get on his toes (Lyle fight, for example) he would just light people up and never be touched.

For the record, I don't think this is a stupid thread. I pick a young Tyson over anyone except prime Liston or Foreman. I know I get **** for this a lot, but I also think Ike had ATG talent on that level.

 

A prime Ali did better than a Prime Tyson. An out of prime Ali did better than an out if prime Tyson.

The argument of tysons imprisoning is weakened aswell when comparing him to Ali due to the 3 year let off Ali suffered due to the Vietnam war.

Also Ali was so much more than a boxer. Did so much for Islamics and there's no way Tyson could compare. Despite sounding gay as ****, Ali wasn't just the heavyweight champion he was the people's champion

tyson was a bit of a hype job. he was marketed very well, but he was always a front runner.

 

Tyson's only 6 losses 5 were by TKO he did not like it when he was taken the distance in fights,could not possibly see him taking both Ali and Foreman early that means they both win by TKO against Tyson,one of the Greats Tyson but not in my Top 5 all time greats might just sneak in to Top 10 though.!!!!

Tysons oppostion was not that bad, there was some good boxers around, better than now. Why does louis not get **** for beating bums? Rockys were all that either, nor forman apart from frazier who some people said was already ****ed and he gets loads of praise, but tyson walks through holmes who never got knocked out before or after, ans spinks, the biggest fight at the time for years and gets no credit what so ever! My mind boggles. I do think tyson will ever get what he deserves as people are toscared they might over rate him because of the stupids that say hes over rated and an just a bully cos they think it might sound like they know what there talking about.

 

What a fascinating topic! I'm amazed it has never come up before.

Ali is greater when you compare resumes, and it isn't even close. That being said, Tyson was a beast H2H, and would have given even a prime Ali all he could handle.

 

If D'mato had lived he would of stayed on the 'good path' for a while longer, but he always was going to self-destruct.

 

Tyson #1 imo. Mike would KO Ali
