Sitting here watching Ward/Kovalev 2 and was wondering, which ATG light heavies would you give these 2 the best chance of being competitive against or even beating??

I feel both men would be competitive against any light heavies in history. Kov`s power and powerful clever jab would something Moore, Charles and Spinks had never come across in their careers, Ward proved he could adapt to Kov`s jab and used a vicious body attack to make Kov gas, Charles had a brilliant body attack so the same thing might happened if he fought Kov in a fantasy bout but it would have been very competitive just like a bout between Ward and Charles would have been a tight chess match.

Entertaining the idea of either of them against someone like Bob Foster feels like man slaughter.

From watching the second Ward fight ,I've formed the impression Kovalev is a good "on top " fighter, when things don't go his way he isn't so positive and that's as diplomatic as I can put it.Guys like Tunney,Charles,Langford,Delaney,Johnson,Lewis,Moore,Foster,Saad,Galindez,Conteh,Spinks,Qawi , had a bit more inside their protective cups and that can give you an awfully long ride ,and an edge over talent .

Foster made mistakes and Ward would have caught with shots while he made these errors, Kov had the power to knock Foster out so it would be whoever landed first and a battle of the jabs, interesting reach could be key here because they would both set their power shots with jabs.

Saad's list of victims shits all over Kovalev's.

Most of the light heavy greats would beat both Ward and Kov.

Foster lights up Kovalev like a Cuban cigar, Ward could last the distance, in losing

I think both can be considered great light heavyweights themselves. This era with Kovalev, Ward and even Stevenson has three light heavyweight champions who I think could've been champions in any era. I think Kovalev may have been able to catch Roy Jones Jr and knock him out. Ward may have a tough time neutralizing the great light heavyweights and would find himself in tough fights with most of them but could win. Stevenson when he was on top of his game I think could've competed and possibly beat some of the great light heavyweights as well.

Ward did better against Kov than Jones would of, he threw more punches than Roy would and no way would Roy try to knock Kov out, if he did he would get stopped.
