Beating great fighters from Lightweight to Heavyweight guarantees a spot in the all-time top 4 and serious consideration for #1.
but greatest?? just wanted to hear his thoughts and what he knows that i must not to put him as greatest ever........
I dont like FMJ personally but if you dont rank his boxing skills as among the best ever then quite simply you dont know what boxing is Im afraid. Use your head not your heart. :thumbsup
Not true at all. It simply means they've knowledge of a wider variety of fighters who've proven themselves far more often than Floyd. He's one of the most overrated fighters of recent times. You overrate him almost as bad as you overrate Chavez.
Floyd was a natural 135er beating up guys bigger than him... His wins over hatton and corrales (both previously undefeated...both unanimous top 5 p4p guys) should not be overlooked. It's how he beat these 2 guys that makes a big imprint on his career for me IMO (he WRECKED THEM; won almost every round...put them away in brutal fashion)
who the **** is sam ****ing langford 1. SRR 2. ALI 3. Hagler 4 SRL 5 hearns 6 pernell whitaker 7 JCC 8 meldrick taylor 9 PBF 10 Malignaggi
i agree, i think the hatton fight is an under-rated win for floyd! but i dont think he should even be considered for top 10 p4p of all time, ever!last twenty years and you`d be right though.......
a wider variety??? big deal...there is no 130 lb guy in 1920 that would beat PBF...how is anyone definitively better than him at 135...there is not a skill he didn't possess...u can try to be super boxing fan and bring up names for 90 years ago but that doesnt mean they could beat PBF at 130
Very interesting list Sweet Pea. I'm surprised to see Ross and Canzoneri so high. Not saying I disagree (well I do a little), but they don't get a lot of play around here. Good to see them on a list. Have you gone beyond 35? And if so, where do you place Sanchez? I like Leonard, Monzon, and Hagler a little higher, and I'd add Sanchez, but that's a damn good list. I like the respect for Ross, Canzoneri, and C.Ortiz. Great fighters.
