I think the question is too hard. Ha!

Seriously, where do you even start?

You’ve got fighters from different eras and different weights.

    What’s your criteria?

Under traditional criteria, you’re analysing their ability, their resumes, their accomplishments, as well as their longevity etc.

    Bernard has the best longevity.

Roy won titles at more weights.

Marvin, Evander and Spinks fought the better fighters.

    It’s impossible really.

Marvin got the opportunity to fight the quality of fighters that Roy didn’t.

Roy got the opportunity to fight in more weight divisions than what Marvin did.

Spinks moved up and tested himself against a prime Mike Tyson.

Bernard ruled MW and then moved up to LHW late.

    Who achieved the most?

    Who took the biggest risks?

There’s no way I could rank them.

Hagler P4P did more by beating Hearns his fight v Duran was brilliant too, bit past it v Ray but I feel he still out worked Leonard in that one an amazing fighter, Hopkins had the best fundamentals out of the other 4.

Tight between Jones and Spinks for top spot. A little bit of daylight between them and then come Hagler and Hopkins, and again it's pretty tight between that pair. Hagler certainly the greater Middleweight, while Hopkins at least closes, maybe even overcomes the gap with his Light-Heavyweight exploits. Evander would be at the bottom of the pile, for me - but this is such a great pile that it's hardly an insult to him.

Right now, based on a whim I'd go: 1) Jones 2) Spinks 3) Hagler 4) Hopkins 5) Holyfield.

I think that due to the circumstances, Tarver is one of Roy’s best wins.

It has to be in his top 5.

His spectacular win over Griffin was great too.

I think the near consensus is that Bhop is the lowest ranked fighter of the five

    1. Spinks
    2. Jones
    3. Hagler
    4. Holyfield
    5. Hopkins

Spinks was dominant in a very strong lhw field plus had some success at heavy so he gets the top spot

Jones dominated a weak light heavyweight division (not his fault), but he also had success at heavy and he has notable wins over Toney and Hopkins

Hagler is the best middleweight ever and dominated that weight. However, he didn't move up to fight bigger men. Not his fault and I don't blame him but Spinks and Jones get extra points

Holyfield was never extremely dominant at hw like Spinks, Jones and Hagler were in their respective divisions. However, he was a natural cruiserweight and he did beat a lot of top heavyweights in a stacked division. I am putting him at #4 for now but you can make a case for #2 or #3

Hopkins is an all time top 5 middleweight and again, he dominated a weak middleweight division. He did have success at light heavyeight as well. However, I don't think his best wins are as good as the top 4 guys.

A lot of people felt Tarver beat Jones in their first match which is why they had a rematch.

It was close, but Roy definitely won.

I could never understand the debate.

If you go and rewatch the fight, you can see Buddy McGirt giving Tarver instructions in between the rounds. But they were never followed. And every time McGirt asked him why they hadn’t been followed, Tarver just sat there completely despondent.

I just wish Roy had have fought him in 2000 instead.
