I know it will be disputed, but Sanchez was magic...the Ali of Mexican fighters...the GREATEST.

    Canto never beat anyone.

He had the resume of a Frank Warren prospect.
Not an Amir Khan type resume either.
A Garry Lockett resume, something like that.
    It is very bad.

Name one impressive victory on his resume.

and yes we would be more sure about Lopez if he'd hammered Chiquita, Carbajal and Gonzalez (Gonzalez woudl have been stopped almost certainly).

That's because you have no idea what you're talking about on any topic you speak on.

I'll give you 5 top flight opponents he beat, often multiple times:

    Shoji Oguma (thrice)
    Betulio Gonzalez (thrice)
    Antonio Avelar
    Susumu Hanagata
    Martin Vargas (twice)

That in itself is more impressive than Calzaghe's entire resume.

Lopez I think would fare quite well with pretty much any Flyweight, which is more than I can say for Marquez at Featherweight. I have no issue with anyone ranking Marquez higher on the basis of him having fought a superior list of opponents, but I tend to think he was kind of like a slightly lesser version of Lopez.

Both Oguma and Gonzalez were among the best Flyweights of the era, in the most stacked era in the division's history. The fact that he never "dominated" them is irrelevant. He hardly had a dominating style in general, he was just a master boxer.

Your comment regarding Hanagata and Salavarria so badly wreaks of Boxrec hunting that I won't even give it the time of day.

Fair enough comments Pea, I assumed that was where you were coming from with Lopez.

Cobra: Id have Olivares above Sanchez myself. Not Sals fault really, but I give Olivares patchy form late on over Sanchez's unfinished career, impressive at it was.

I'd have no argument either way though, Sanchez did more by 23 then most do in a career :good

im aware on how the career of salavarria and he is nothing special.

Dominance is an integral part in assessing ATG rankings. JMM's draw with pacquiao is better than any win of canto

Well ive seen all of them fight many times i can say most of them ive seen since earlier in their careers when most fans had never even heard of them. So heres my list

    Lopez
    Delahoya a very close 2nd
    Barrera
    Morales,Zarate
Marquez real close behind Morales and Zarate
    Canto

In fact after Oscar i think the rest are all real close not much seperating them.
