Where around do you put Floyd Mayweather on your ATG list? How about if he beats Pacquiao and JMM decisively?

    How bout Pacman?

Personally, I think if Pacman beats Mayweather and Cotto then retires, he'll go down as one of the top 3 best p4p boxers in history...I foreshadowed this pre oscar fight to the tune of a lot of hate....Doesn't seem so ridiculous now though.

    The thing is...
In all honesty Mayweather beating a JMM/Pacquiao don't really do much for him.
(On paper YES, But will always be questioned regardless.. even the Floyd fans know this)

Where as JMM/Pacquaio even taking a fight Vs. Mayweather win/lose actually increases them
(I know it sounds stupid & bias, But it's true)

No one "NEW" will ever break into boxing's HOF top 10 ever..
put that to sleep, people hate change.

I put PBF around spot 80-100. He is overrated IMO and would have lost against guys like Chavez and Whitaker.

IF pac beats those guys, he will access Top 20 -25 but not Top 10 IMO. Keep in mind that the greats of the past were better than the PBF and Cotto of today.

Floyd is easily in the Top 50. If he soundly beats JMM and Pac, he jumps 10 spots at least.

I find it hard to believe Floyd is in the top 50

if pac beats floyd, cotto and possibly jmm i would say top 15-20 atg if he has done that who else is there to beat?

pbf on the other hand needs to beat pac, jmm, cotto ,shane mosely and pw then ill say he is a beast that is not to be ****ed with and imo he can beat all these guys easy weather he chooses to do it or not is a different story. if he does top 15 atg

I don't think the significance of this fight can be over-stated.

You have Mayweather, an unbeaten all time great. In the other corner, Manny Pacquiao, the most exciting fighter to come out of flyweight since Jimmy Wilde and a man who has a genuine run available to make him an ATG top 10 fighter.

    #3? Probably impossible.

But he could make serious headway.

So could Money May if he would make the right matches, which he probably won't.

Great, great, great fight if it happens. Arguably the biggest fight in a generation.

This is how I feel...The implications of a decisive Floyd win or a decisive Manny win legacy wise and career wise are as big as it gets IMO. If it's promoted right, this fight will break all records in my opinion.

    Are u 4 real dude?

Look at Manny's resume. The competition he's faced isn't comparable to the old greats....If he becomes the lone loss on Floyd's resume and beats floyd up badly, he's without a doubt top 10.

Floyd would make more of a case for himself if he beat someone a little more his own size, instead of making a lightweight come up in weight to fight him. Even if he beats Marquez and then fights PacQuiao, it will be at catchweight. If Floyd can't make 140, then he's a welterweight. If Floyd wants to change his current PFP status, he'd have to fight a 147 pounder, like Mosely perhaps?
Used to be that the little guys , like Henry Armstrong, Micky Walker, Tommy Loughran, Billy Conn Bob Foster and Michael Spinks used to seek out bigger challenges against naturally bigger men. Now, guys like DeLaHoya and Mayweather initiate fights with smaller guys. But nowadays the "stars" of boxing act more like prom queens than fighters when it comes to finding their next "dates".

Put it this way, Mayweather needs a change of career focus if he wants to make the sort of impact Manny could, should he win.

As you said, "Made an impact" even without Floyd.
