Enought about this chin bull****, and the ones that mis-interpret my earlier post on Ali....IMO the top ten chin of all times interesting enough will also have some of the best boxers ever.... 1. Sixto Escobar- never drop on over 80 fights 2. Kid Gavilan- over 160 fights and never drop 3. SRR: Drop only once by Joey Maxin 4. MMH: one questionable drop against Roldan 5. Ali...... 6. JCC- not until Frankie Randall a bigger opponent drop him 7. Gene Fullner-only SRR ...... 8. Hector Macho Camacho Sr.-agains the best on his different weight classes , never drop legimately 9. Jake LaMotta- tough as nails... 10. Monzon 11. Sal Sanchez 12. BHop 13. George Chuvalo 14. Juan Laporte 15. Randall Tex Cobb
Ray Robinson was dropped several times. He was only STOPPED once, against Joey Maxim, when he was dead-tired. Kid Gavilan was dropped by Carmen Basilio and Ike Williams. Anyway, coming up with a greatest chins list is so hard, because there's lost of factors to take into play. James Toney was dropped three times in a career ranging from MW to HW, only really hurt by Reggie Johnson and Sam Peter, but he was good at rolling with shots and slipping them. A guy like Bernard Hopkins was slicker and avoided flush shots well, especially as he got older and evolved as a fighter, so it's tough to rank him as opposed to guys who aren't as skilled defensively and take more clean shots.
Ray Robinson was dropped by Tommy Bell in his welterweight title winning performance. Jake LaMotta dropped him in their 2nd and 3rd fights, although once was with a body shot. Rocky Graziano dropped him, but I still maintain that wasn't a legit KD. He more or less cuffed him down with his forearm on an overhand right. Robinson was dropped other times as well.
Nice list. Oliver McCall deserves to be on it though. Hagler wasn't dropped by Roldan that I recall....?
Sanchez was rocked too often to be on the list. Wayne MCCullough had a GRANITE chin. McCall should be on there as well.
He only had 1 KO lost on his career...and Jake did drop him...so I stand correct ..but still why don;t you compile your list and lets compare... So ok , SR, was drop a few times, but never on his prime as a WW....remember that he only lost twice on his first 132....
Sal fought the most devastating punchers of his time and weight helll.Azumah, Danny Little Red Lopez ,Wilfredo Gomez...come dude
A young Azumah and a smaller Gomez. He had a good chin, but not a granite one. Have a watch, too many times rocked badly by a lesser fighter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ahNIHuj560
