You're not as well versed on the many different eras and weight classes as certain posters, but what you know (which is still a good deal), you know extremely well. The fact that you don't bull**** and are one of the most unbiased posters around adds to your merit.

Cheers mate. I think the classic contains quality from more or less everyone. Not much garbage goes around here, IMO. Funnily enough, I use to see myself pretty much like yourself in terms of similar posts and also the same opinions. On the same wave-length, so to speak. You've just expanded yourself more with certain eras, and probably enhanced your wording further than myself.

JT is one of the best posters around. Not getting as many mentions on here as he should be, IMO. Very good with the 80's era, and 70's for that matter. He's been visiting on a near daily basis for as long as I can remember.

Thanks to El Puma for the kind words.

I think it would be easier to come up with a list of indidviduals that I don't like, rather than list off everyone who contributes here on a regular basis. Still, I think a couple of props have to be given to posters like Nemesis, Salshanchezfan (although I think he's not really posting here that much anymore), scartissue, Bigcat, who haven't been mentioned that much thus far.

Lots of amazing stuff to read in this section.

Ted Spoon, Klompton, Apollack, in no particular order. Other than that nobody else seems to stand out much in regard to careful research, that would provide interesting read.
No love for unorthodox views that are based on actual research, people seem to prefer "classics" all the way. Ah well, I'm outta here for good. Adieu!

I wish that I had the time to post more often, but I do still read a lot. Actually, I think that the quality of the forum in general is slightly improving ... with the exemption of one or two ignorant statements and outright waste of time threads, I really enjoy reading most of what I come across.

I don't have a top ten, but I do have people whose threads and posts I always keep an eye on ...

Stonehands89 - without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite to discuss hypothetical match ups with ... we had a Holyfield and Marciano discussion that was immense. He really makes me think things through and always brings a consistent argument based on solid boxing foundation.

JohnThomas1 - one of the friendliest, down to earth, beer drinking in between rounds while leering at the round card girls  gentlemen that you're likely to come across. He has a solid foundation in the '80's scene and has always brought something worhty to any discussion that I have had with him. An all-round solid poster that's not afraid to argue against the consensus or question the true prowess of some of your favourite fighters.

MDWC - top guy! I imagine a red-headed Scouser, throwing rocks at windows, whistling whilst he walks away with a smug grin when he was a lad. His humour is one of the cogs that keeps the forum ticking over in my book. A great sense of ironic humour and thanks to him, I've certainly gained a fairer perspective of some of my boxing heroes ... the thing that I like about him is he doesn't dress up bull**** ... calls it as he sees it and calls you out as he sees you. It helps to keep discussions a tad more objective and not descend into fanaticism.

Mantequilla - because he rarely posts in length, I'm not sure if many actually realise just how knowledgeable a poster he is. I keep an eye out for his rating of fighters and have actually invested time in seeking fight footage of certain fighters. just based off of his assessments.

McGrain - Consistent, persistent, dedicated forum member. Good knowledge, strikes up interesting threads and asks the right questions to bring about room for more debate. One of the posters whose posts and threads I always keep an eye out for.

Sweet Pea ... when I first noticed him, it was just because he seemed to always post in the same Sweet Pete thread that I had posted in/wanted to post in ... the guy has grown immensely in his analysis of the fight game ... his ability to communicate his knowledge and thoughts and has rounded off his knowledge of other fighters. I like that he's quite to the point with some people at times ... a bit like MDWC ... don't tolerate the bull**** and people soon learn to cut it out.

Sweet_Scientist ... simply because himself and Sweet Pea had an affinity for Whitaker, I always used to get the two mixed up. I believe that SS may be the older of the two, not that that makes any difference to how I view them as posters. For me, another very solid poster ...

Drew101 - Really formiddable guy. Knows his stuff well, very well. Doesn't get into arguments or long drawn out debates ... says his piece and then leaves with great impact.

John Garfield - a true gem and a gift from smoky, crowded, fight halls of yesteryear. In my head, JG looks like Mickey from the Rocky films, wears a blue beanie and everytime someone asks him if Pep or Robinson were as good as people say, he spits on the floor, calls someone a bum and then types a response. I appreciate his recollection of past fighters like no other ... could you imagine watching old black and white film of SRR in his prime or a pre-crash Pep, with nothing but JG narrating? Breathes life into a nostalgic era, for my money, without having an air of "everything was better in my day" ... a true champion of the sport and an ambassador of the forum.

Manassa and Achillesthegreat - I put them together because they were the two that I noticed when I first came to the forum. They had a fantastic rapport, simply because although they often argued, you could tell that they enjoyed the competition ... a sort of friendly, competitive rivalry. Manassa can come across as a conceited ******* at times, I guess, but the guy really does know his stuff.

Robbi - I often find myself reading his posts. I believe him to be sufficiently versed on Hagler and other '80's fighters. Good poster IMO.

Duodenum, Ted Spoon, dpw417? - I group em together for the respective abilities to write about the fight game in such a comprehensive manner. I've read detailed analyses from each and every one and have found them to be worthy contributors to the debates that I've seen them involved in. Ted Spoon: every forum needs a know-it-all , very solid bunch, those guys and yes, I agree with dpw417, I think it's him anyways, who's got very strong feelings about the shortening of championship bouts. Fights SHOULD be 15 rounds when we're talking about fighting for the championship of the world.

SuzieQ - I wish he wouldn't use such short paragraphs, but the guy is like a walking advertiser for lesser known/unknown fighters who were victims of the colour line tactics used in boxing's past. I may not always agree with the brother and have had more than one or two disagreements with him, but he loves the sport and isn't afraid to admit to being wrong ... I find it hard to believe that the sport is dying when there's people of his age that are that passionate about researching what is sometimes a poorly lit corner of boxing history ... kudos.

Redrooster - fanboy antics aside, he can actually talk boxing, fanboy antics aside that is! Good sense of humour ... I honestly believe that he sends himself up just to get a reaction out of us and then sits back, looking at his Ray Leonard signed poster, flicking his macho camacho ponytail as he eats his Animal (Fletcher) biscuits, refreshing the page just to see how we've reacted to his statements. He's a comic genius wrapped in crazy ... think DeNiro in 'The Fan' mixed with Cleese, that has a love-hate relationship with Ray.

Janitor - you have to love his firm belief in the strength of newspaper accounts of fighters that aren't on film. He knows my views on this, but the man is consistent and for this, I respect him. By nature of his occupation, he is a good researcher and it shows in his knowledge of all things boxing before I care to share more than a fraction of interest. That said, I do enjoy reading his posts and threads whereby he talks about stuff like the colour line and bareknuckle boxing. I did enjoy his recent thread about heavyweight wrecking machines ... not at all surprised by the results, but I did like the way that he broke it down using facts and figures, despite my firm belief that you cannot limit something as complex as boxing into mere facts and figures.

I really cannot recall all the names of the people that I read, but there are a lot ... if I haven't mentioned you, it's not out of spite ... I probably am aware of you, but hey, thems are the breaks. I'd like to mention a poster that most of you probably never heard of ... he's the reason why I even know of this forum ... Mister K ... if not for him telling me about ESB, I'd probably not be posting here.

I concur with your sentiments.Obviously the regard in which we held the esteemed Senya fell far short of the regard in which he holds himself.

Agreed with everything written. Along with Raging B(_)LL and a couple of others he's probably the most knowlegable and reliable on the forum overall IMO. He's seen it all so I really trust his ratings, and find that I agree with pretty much all of them. One of few posters I rarely attempt to argue with (if by chance I do disagree with something) rather than attempting to understand his point of view.

Great post all around META5, as is always the case when you stop by, and thanks for the mention.:good
