Freddie Brown trained Duran way more than Ray Arcel, but Arcel got recognition, and was sure he was in ring with Duran when reporters were around. Same for Gil Clancey, who was no real trainer, and how about all the guys in early days of Kronk boxing who developed all the talent for Manny Steward? Anyone know any 1970's Kronk gym names ? A guy named Gore, I thing k it was Billy Gore, trained Willy Pep for a while, and also had middle weight Tony Licata in 1970's. Petronelli is one of great one,s he totally, by self developed Marvin Hagler, tough thing to do, take fighter from raw beginner to a title, and stay through all his defenses. He also trained that Irish boxer Steve Collins, and improved him a lot. If Petronelli had been willing to leave Broockton, a small town area with not much boxing going on, and gone to Vegas, he would have had a few more champs, and we would be talking of him whenever trainers came up.
