I am definitely not sure there are 47 guys more worthy than Whitaker. Wow-- that one is a bit of a head scratcher. :huh

Because Manny on several occasions was just winning a piece of the title..1/4 of the stake...Armstrong without fail fought the undisputed champion every time he won a title.

Sasakul and David Diaz were not the best in the division at the time...Diaz far from it.

Its VERY important to look past the numbers and see who said fighter was beating.

Manny may well retire above 2 of those...I cant see him surpassing Whitaker IMO.

FACT: SRL was just that much better. Hagler didn't have better abilities than Pac.

I doubt you could read to begin with. Hagler got beat by someone coming UP in weight, he got a deserved draw in a classic slugfest against the ATG Antefuermo, he had two wars against two welterweights... what's his best victory against someone his own size? Mugabi? Hamsho? Roldan?

    lol... Hagler's so overrated it's sick. He couldn't carry Pac's jockstrap p4p, and that's a FACT.

Styles make fights. Leonard for years was waiting to beat Hagler. That does not mean Pac was better. I am not convinced Pac was better. Hagler never would have had a tough fight with Marquez to be honest.

You're right, he wouldn't. It probably wouldn't have been that tough at all. If JMM was 160 with his current speed and skillset he would smack Hagler around and stop him in 7 or 8. wtf does it matter how long SRL was waiting? What does that change? They're about the same age, SRL was laid off for THREE YEARS while Hagler was active, and he came up and took Hagler's title. Who does that to Pacquiao? What welterweight in HISTORY comes up and takes Bernard's title? Maybe SRR, that's about it. Maybe.

Pac is ahead of these guys are you serious? Bert is a known modern day fighter hater, Steward already had him compared to Armstrong, SRR, and ALi. Rafael Im sure is inside top 20.. Ask Atlas, all these boxing guys PAc would be a unanimous inside the top 25

Actually, people tend to underrate current fighters and rank them much higher after their careers end. Lennox Lewis is a good recent example.

Hagler cleaned out a tough division alright, but going up six weightclasses and getting better is perhaps more impressive than dominating one division. Some of the legends Hagler became legends at much lower weightclasses. Duran and Hearns are still very good at middleweight, but not what they were below. So you can always ounch holes in any fighter's resume.

Yeah you can always take apart anyone's resume. Facts are that even a fighters opponents lose some credibility later after we see everyone's full career. I do agree on the Hagler fighting smaller legends like Duran and Hearns and Leonard, although there were no legends at his weight. Some might say Vito Antuofermo, but he was borderline HOF in my mind. And Hagler almost demanded smaller guys move up and fight him, yet if he went by his own theory of guys moving up and fighting him, he should have moved up and fought Spinks, but he never did even with the insistence of Michael Spinks. Spinks would have probably beaten him but that is the challenge of moving up, and he would have appreciated more what it took for Hearns and Duran and Leonard to take him on.

Hagler rates above Whitaker IMO and i already have Pac ahead of chavez. I think i have chavez at about 20, 21 with Pac at 18 or 19 and Hagler is at 14 i think with whitaker at 16.

Haglers win over Thomas Hearns was phenomenal (it was the best version of Hearns IMO ) and his longevity at middleweight is comparable to Whitakers at Lightweight and Welter. That being said they're very close.

If Hagler had been given a shot at Monzon then a lot of arguements would have been settled thats for sure.
