You should have said "at least on par" combining both fights or over both fights. He wasn't on par in both fights, meaning in each. Holmes won the rematch and it goes down as a bad decision with the vast majority of fans. Did you see Spinks as at least on par throughout the rematch? How did you see the fight?

I guess I'm just disagreeing.

 

Jones and he'd beat him head to head shutting him out. Legacy wise on paper, there isnt that much between them, ability wise Jones is just a level above. Both get underrated off their past prime KO loss/losses

Regarding the fight itself I was told Spinks won it fairly but it was closer then the first as I was given the tape of it..So I watched it with this in mind..I disagreed with that assessment but I only had Holmes by a point the only time I scored it. I certainly felt he got the better of it, with a clear lead by the halfway point but Spinks was awkward all the way. He hit back with some clear rounds over the last half, though Holmes always looked like he was doing more damage, finished stronger aswell.
Incidently I think I gave this one to Larry based on the last round...I think, dont quote me.
I know others didnt see it as close because Larry was doing more of the hurtin..but thats how I scored it at the time.

Probably only seen it a few times, not as much as the first one...I dont really see an arguement for Spinks at all to be honest, if anything I think my scorecard flatters him but I still stand by my statement regarding his competitiveness in both fights.

That is, quite frankly, bull****.

He lost several to Griffin, Toney, Hopkins, De Valle and arguably Castro.

Though he didnt lose many.

 

He was very dominant in his prime..if he lost rounds they were usually because he was coasting.

 

I voted RJJ because of his accomplishments from Middleweight-Heavyweight.
I feel Spinks was definately the better Light-Heavy and would have knocked Jones out, but P4P Roy accomplished more. To think of Roy as just a Light-Heavy would tarnish his legacy.

Spinks didn't dodge any one, much less for 7 years, like Jones did to DM, who had three belts before they stold one in a day, the other in a month. Two of DM's stolen belts Jones got to be come in Only the US the "undisputed Champ" Of course Jones did have it in his HBO contract that they were never to mention DM's name.


Jones never unified at any weight and never tried.
1/4 middle weight, 1/4 super middle, 3/4's Lt. Heavy with written in Dodging of the true Champ DM, and 1/4 heavy.....a good splinter champ, but never ever Champion of the World in any weight, at any time, and worse of all he never tried...so he was never a real Champion at all. He lacked the balls.

Spinks, fought every real fighter in his weight class, not just some, and did defeat the recognized Heavy Champ, not a Ruiz.
Spinks is my choise, because he was a true Champion.
