to help us in making our list of top 100 ATG, i think it would be a good idea to make this poll to see where to place these boxers in the ATG list.

i rank cesar chavez higher that arguello

It's very close, but I have Arguello higher. It's close but clear, Arguello definitely.

I like Julio. Although his record had some padding, 89-0 or whatever it was is pretty astonishing. Not to mention, I do think he probably defeated a larger list of top rated opponents, titlists, etc.

    This is hard.
I voted for Chavez based on resume.

Arguello had the clearly superior resume.

That he did. He was also the far superior fighter.

    Rooney wtf?

Lets not forget Alexis beat Ramirez(before Chavez did), Escalera, Limon, Kobayshi (before Gomez go to him) among others.
Was the first man to knock out Art Hafey just after Olivares got knocked out by Art and struggled to win the rematch.

    Destroyed Legra aswell.

Rooney is no one is the scheme of things.

    Thanks for replying.

I have a question, why were arguello's punches in the pryor fight not strong enough to atleast drop pryor? is it because he was weight drained? or his power just didn't went up with the weight.

Beating pryor could've made arguello's resume more bigger.

Arguello was well past his prime. Multiple weight divisions past his best, fighting one of the top 140 pounders of all time who also happened to have a cast iron chin.

Arguello: Jose Luis Ramirez, Ray Mancini, Ruben Olivares, Jim Watt, Bobby Chacon, Bazooka Limon, Rolando Navarette, Cornelius Boza-Edwards, Ruben Castillo, Alfredo Escalera, Andrew Ganigan, Leonel Fernandez, Royal Kobayashi, Art Hafey, Cocoa Sanchez, Jose Legra, Kid Pascualito, etc.

Chavez: Meldrick Taylor, Hector Camacho, Edwin Rosario, Jose Luis Ramirez, Roger Mayweather, Greg Haugen, Rocky Lockridge, Juan LaPorte, Ruben Castillo, Bazooka Limon, Willy Wise, etc.

It's pretty clear in my eyes, especially when you take into account that most of Arguello's opponents were in their prime or closer to it.
