Larry Merchant was quick to criticise Marco Antonio Barrera in the way he approached his rematch with Manny Pacquiao. Although I hold a completely different view, I never started a hate campaign against Merchant for his views. He's a fight fan, a human being, and has the right to an opinion just like any single poster on the General Forum. He was expecting Marco to go out on his shield, and he didn't.

Whenever Larry criticises Floyd, you spit your dummy out.

 

You've already been proven wrong on this issue. Froch, Toney, Hopkins numerous other boxers have come out and agreed with Floyd that Larry Merchant unfairly targets him. You are just blind from your floyd hate, you think its unbiased analysis to trash a fighter before, after and during every fight.

Tell me boy, whats accurate about Merchant saying that fans rising in applause during a Mayweather fight has never occured? How is that opinion on whats going on in the fight and not just outright derision of a fighter? What does that have to do with anything?

When Larry Merchant performed one of the worst interviews given I have ever seen to Michael Katsidis as he was breaking down in tears because of losing his brother, thats when i spit my "dummy" out. Whever the **** that means.

 

That really was awful. I couldn't believe Larry when he did that. I felt really bad for Katsidis.

Will never forget that one. Total brain fart by Merchant on that one. I would sincerely hope it was not intentional and that he would have apologized to Katsidis after realizing what he did.

 

Larry does what his massah's ask him to.

 

Thats just one of many. Anytime he gives one of his closing monologues its just painful. You can see Lampley's face. He is trying so hard not to cringe.

Absolutely. I clearly have "Floyd hate" as evidenced by me voting for him on this particular poll. Bravo.

I don't remember Larry really ever making unfair statements or asking unwarranted questions in regards to Mayweather. He asked him if he thought his fight with Baldomir was particuarly entertaining. More recently, Larry quizzed Floyd on the sucker punches he delivered to Victor Ortiz. When Floyd responded by shouting at the 70+ year old commentator, Larry put him in his place. It was excellent.

You're quick to condemn Larry Merchant over a few questionable actions, and yet your support of Mayweather has never wavered. Why? Floyd has made some of the biggest ****-ups of the last 10 years when it comes to interviews and career decisions. He's often showed a total lack of respect for certain fighters and media personalities. Why aren't you enraged? Do we hold Floyd to a higher standard than the rest of the Earth's population?

Bottom line. You hate Larry because he routinely clowns Mayweather, and calls him out on what everyone else knows to be true. That's fine. But to constantly echo Floyd on every issue, and defend everything the man either says or does is just ridiculous. Do you not have a mind of your own?

 

I don't know why people make a big deal about Merchant criticizing Mayweather. He's a commentator, so it's his ****ing job. Even Mayweather's fans would admit that he has made some mistakes, so why shouldn't Merchant say the same?

...actually, I'm wrong. Mayweather fans staunchly defend their man picking Baldomir over Margarito. Why? Because Mayweather made more money, of course, so they were ecstatic! Money May! Money! May!

 

Thats why your opinion is worthless. I mean Froch does. But you dont. Froch hears Merchants bull****, watches the smae fights you do. But you dont. Funny how that works.

Floyds a boxer. Someone who puts his life on the line everytime he puts on the gloves. The most physically demanding sport in the world. A sport where people regularly die or suffer long lasting physical, mental and emotional damage.

Outside of the ring, I have criticized many of Floyds decisions. However I will always give the benefit of the doubt to the athlete, rather then the old white **** with a mic.

Im sure a lame like you would call it "clowning". I call it "hating" when Merchant is at his best. When he's at his worst. I dont know what to call. Usually I am actually embarrassed for him.

 

I think this is the most worrying thing of all. I've lost count the amount of times I've been watching a Floyd Mayweather Jr interview, and I'm literally staring at the screen, mouth-agape, cringing. Things he has been quoted as saying are about as ignorant as it gets, and yet his fans are going to blindly support Floyd regardless. It's embarrassing. It unfortunately makes it very difficult indeed to take these fans seriously on any subject, Boxing-related or otherwise.

And yet when Larry Merchant dares ask the same man whether or not he thought a particular fight was entertaining -- Hold the ****in' phone.
