Never heard that before. Why doesnt Al Bernstein deride the fighters on his Showtime broadcast? Why does he behave professionally yet still able to convey a sense of excitement?

If Merchant just hated Mayweather I could understand, but he derides any fight that is not Barrera vs Morales 1.

This idea that Merchant has been critical of Floyd is exaggerated too. If someone was asked to find direct quotes, they'd come up with an insanely short list of things. Most of it is just suspicion rather than actual proof.

When Merchant asked Floyd whether he thought the Baldomir fight was entertaining, there was absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's a fair question relating to something Mayweather had previously said. All Mayweather had to reply with was "It wasn't as entertaining as I would have liked but..." and that would have been fine, but instead, he had started crying. Similar situation after Ortiz. Mayweather was asked a perfectly legitimate question and flew off the handle.

The reason these fans dislike Merchant is because Mayweather does.

I didn't read the rest of your post, because I suspected you went off an tangent after you misread something I wrote. I was right too because I didn't say it was a commentators job to criticise, I said it's their job to commentate which includes criticism.

And Merchant is nowhere near 80% negative. That is just a ludicrous comment. He's similar to someone like Brian Moore.

 

I can almost certainly assure you that neither he or any other credible poster on these boards ranks Winky Wright higher than Erik Morales. That'd be nonsensical. And no, it's not because "he iz black".
