Morales is a sentimental favourite among the neutrals, and Pacquiao fans have a hard on for the man purely on the basis that he holds a win over their favourite fighter. That accounts for well over half of the General Forum. What are we not getting? It's a popularity contest. The General Forum fails to be an authority on anything Boxing related. It's inhabited by too many idiots to take seriously. MichiganWarrior, Whipdatass, PugilisticPower, Goblin2, etc. The list of mind-numbingly stupid posters goes on and on.

You're going to hear that MAB was unsportsmanlike, and that is the reason. However, Morales was responsible for standing over a defeated opponent, posing for the cameras. Highly unsportsmanlike. Moreover, Barrera is criticised for hitting Morales at the press conference, but it was Morales who initiated the confrontation by insulting MAB to his face.

The more likely reason is that whereas MAB would often box his opponents, making for a very dull affair, Morales would go toe-to-toe.

 

Or Morales is a poor kid from Tijuana, and Barrera was a middle class kid from Mexico City. A big class differential.


Most Mexicans I talk to, some of which dont even really follow boxing dont like Barrera.
