unequivocally, without a doubt, De La Hoya. I'm not even a fan and almost always rooted against him, but he fought a who's who list. He didn't duck anyone and he beat a few of them. Mayweather has never lost, but his track record is putrid and squirrely compared to DLH's. Indeed it's pathetic against any ATG. That's why he'll never be one of those that's unanimously accepted as an ATG in years to come.

p4p i have them both listed in my 40's, basically even imo.

Oscar has better comp but floyd has faced some good comp himself and has never lost so...

Oscar fans like to count defeats, but defeats dont count. Say he was robbed against Tito and Mosley, you can also say he got gifts against Whitaker, Sturm and Quartey,

    Its clearly Floyd.

Oscar has fought amazing competition and lost a few. Floyd has fought good opposition and is undefeated. Maybe Floyd edges it but De La Hoya would have beaten him.

Its tough but I';d have to go to Floyd he has as many titles in weight classes and has a win over him

also he beat Moseley who he couldnt beat in two fights if he beats pac or beats martinez for the middleweight title hed really be ahead

It's DLH for me, never a big fan of his but he always took on the top dogs, i think he suffered in the fact he came after chavez as Holmes did after Ali, but although he lost some dubious & was gifted some as an earlier poster pointed out i think he's contributed far more too the sport that Mayweather who's really in my opinion more mouth than action.

For my rankings of ATG I mix achievement with H2H matchups.

For me Floyd is equally as hated as Oscar is loved,if not more hated than Oscar is loved. That's an achievement.

I think Floyd beats more fighters from the past than Oscar. So I rank Floyd somewhere ahead of Oscar on the ATG list.

However they both rank very near 100 on my top 100 list.I think some of you guys rank these current fighters too highly.

The answer is Mayweather. Mayweather is clearly the better fighter, he's never lost, and he went up in weight and beat De La Hoya depsite being at probably a 15+ lb. disadvantage. If you're picking Hoya based on him taking on and losing to bunch of good fighters, then you're basically saying that Mayweather can go out there and lose to about 4 or 5 really good fighters and leapfrog ahead of Hoya.

oscar now is higher in my book. oscar will fight everyone and challenges himself. floyd has avoided some challenges to preserve his "0".

Oscar had the harder challenges, but he lost most of them.

Time will sort it out and floyd will be ahead.

Not a good comparison Holmes was very dominant in his prime,ODH lost to Mosely, got a gift against Qaurtey, lost against Tito,i agree ODH was great for boxing, but the bottomline is he lost all his big fights except Vargas.True his comp level was much higher than Floyds, but Floyds only loss was to Castillo unafficially of course so he's undefeated, and he won their head to head meeting, very slightly but he won,Mayweather for me.

On the contrary, Floyd literally beat De La Hoya at 154lbs with all terms in De La Hoya's favour.

It's not hard to make a choice here. Floyd is the greater fighter.
